Re: Ear plugs

I'm lucky in that I had moulded earplugs bought for me every 5 years when in work. So I have 5 pairs in total. What is interesting is how different they all are as your ears are constantly changing shape and size. One pair I have are really uncomfortable now in the left ear when I wear them for ...

Re: Surviving the heat

It seems that I have acclimatised to the heat here now. Been 33°c to 39°c during the day this week, not uncomfortable when riding in armoured jeans, mesh jacket and mesh backed gloves.

I went to Col de Rates with a friend yesterday, I've ordered a mesh seat cover, that was a very sweaty ride ...

Re: Surviving the heat

I often just wear shorts and t shirt if just riding tye scooter into town, but always wear gloves and trainers.

Traffic so much lighter here and l only encounter three junctions between home and town.

No sandals from October!
Eh?
From October 1, (at least in mainland Spain) DGT mandate the use of approved protective gloves on all interurban roads, and closed-toe footwear on all road types.

Cheers for that, just down the road to me. Will try to go there on Sunday for their car and bike meet (the one in Cox a couple of weeks ago had no more than a dozen cars an half a dozen bikes there).

It seems that I have ...

Re: Tyre pressures

I have TPMS and temperature readout on my new scooter.
Interesting to see how much the tyre temperature went up when I deliberately rode behind a lorry on the motorway. And then seeing the temperature drop when I was riding with no vehicles in front of me (even though air temperature was 38°c ...

Next challenge is your bike next to a red tractor that is NOT a Massey Ferguson.

Spain, no chance of a pic in the rain either. I can do the people in costumes pic in August when fiesta starts, but it might be too warm to ride.

It was bloody hot today riding down to and back from Murcia. Quite a few of the signs on Farmacia were showing 40°c.

And didn't see a running ...

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?

:(

If something won't do the distance of the trip I'd rather get it sorted before I leave, also he's an old mate so I always give him my business.
He did me a pair of Road 6's,90 degree valve stems & fitting, ride in ride out for £350.
I'll be back there with my Street Triple in a couple of months ...

I took the SV650X to my mates tyre shop for a new pair of Road 6's.

I got 6100 miles out of the factory fitted Dunlops. We thought that I could get another 2K out of the rear & more out of the front tyre, but if my next Euro trip happens I'll be ...

I remember Veggie Dave and Zanx trying to break/cut an Almax chain. Not a chance.

I'm glad that bike theft over here is confined to the big cities and (in the main) scooters.

The one I posted above dyno'd at 104bhp

That's pretty astounding for a air cooled pushrod motor!

I know the air cooled Ducati 1000DS struggles to tune up to 100bhp and an extra 200cc can't make that much difference.

This was from a Dyno print out from when the bike was in California ...

I've never understood the Harley = open exhaust thing.

I purchased a Harley 1200 Sportster with lots of tuning parts on it (Edelbrock heads, Keihin carb with Edelbrock inlet manifold, Andrews cam, etc., etc)

Had a straight through S&S exhaust system, extremely loud. So loud that was the main ...

Re: Brake Pads

My NC750 wears the pads out really quickly-on my 3rd set (of ge uine Honda pads) now at 38000 kms.

The last pair were down to the metal after 8000 kms, a lot of which was covered on motorways. And found this whilst at my mates in Wrocław in Poland.
Could not get any pads for it locally, only place ...

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?

I worked in, and commuted to London for 20 years, A120, M11, A406, The Highway, probably filtered for 10 to 15 miles of the journey in and out.

Since leaving the UK I have rarely had to filter on A roads or motorways (where you can use the hardshoulder when traffic is very slow) here. I don't ...
