Re: [For those still working] Will AI take your job?
For context I'm a Principal Software engineer, short answer is not yet but I'm seeing my job switch from mentoring and supporting junior engineers to writing skills, config and tasks agentic AIs can then complete for me. I believe the hard part in software engineering is defining what your going to ...

Re: I Need A Simple Database Tool.
I'd probably spin up a CloudSql instance in https://cloud.google.com/, 5 mins to create and the same to start a free tier SQL DB, there are Postgress and MySql types or MongoDb derivatives if your a NoSql fan.
Otherwise install MySql locally and run things via the cli or install dbadmin as a UI.

Re: Thermal Sippy type travel cup for coffee ??
My extensive testing has led to these requirements...
- Needs a firm or ideally, rubber coated bottom
- Needs a rubber like o-ring to keep the lid-on, the ones that rely on tight plastic fit fail over time
- Prefer Metal on the outside, plastic inner
- Needs a handle OR needs to be a grippy ...

Re: Car locking wheel nuts - worth using?
I took them off the van after a ham fisted mech stripped the nut key (?), popped it back in the glove box (probably where everyone keeps it). I was then left stranded when I got a puncture and couldn't get the nut off.
Not sure I'd have them again unless the wheels are sports car bling types.

Hired an E-MTB from Aberystwth for the day as an extended test ride. Took it to Bwlch Nant yr Arian, I'm not a Dyfi kind of rider and this place was closer.
Loved the bike and bought a new one.

Finally one I can get in first with... I did kind of ride it out of the garage to the front of the house, it's downhill so I didn't technically start the engine.

'ello. I've been a little bit tied up with things outside and inside of work and finally feel like I'm getting out of tunnel. I do have the weekend booked off in my calendar still (take a bit of negotiation atm) and have a van I camp in that more often than not has my mtb and paddle board in the ...

Diagnosis MT'urder - MT09 won't start
Our Transit's down with electrics problems atm (again) so we only have one car (bit of a problem considering where we live) so it seemed like a good excuse to spin the MT-09 up to give me options. But oh no...

Sadly due to medical wisdom we're having to take 2-3 weeks off. He's not in lots of pain but as he's still growing and the bones changing it makes sense to chill a bit and get a bit of strength back in before going racing again.
Gutted for him. But arguably the right decision.
Sorry to hear ...

Way beyond my biking skills, but we live 30 mins drive from there it's probably a bit out of your way (Llywngwril) to invite you over for a cuppa this time round but if you go again let me know and we see if we can put you up in one of our cottages.

Some isopropyl alcohol, having issues with the rear brake not working at all, bled them, lightly sanded them but I have the fear that I've contaminated the disk or pads somehow and youtube says burning it off might help...what could possibly go wrong?

It was a massive shame that others screwed up the Fridays for people, along with numbers on Sat and Sun that are not sustainable for @Alan PBTD and the gang to bother with. If people don't book, this could very easily be the last. I know i've said that before, but the numbers simply don't justify ...
