Still paying IN to a pension? You are just a boy! Real old is taking it out again.

Did a dump run to get rid of some building waste and rubbish from spawn's house.

Came back with a couple of good saucepans, a toolmaker's clamp (Moore and Wright too), two pairs of work trousers and a coverall (all with tags still on, but logoed up) and an inflatable dinghy that has one very small puncture.

I'd call that a win.

Removed all last year's growth from half the pollarded willow trees in the garden. Got enough willow 'whips' to start a basket-weaving business.

I don't particularly enjoy gardening (wish I did! Or better still find another decent gardener instead of the 'mow, blow, go' people ) but some jobs are OK when it means I get to wield my Silky Zubat, the finest pruning saw known to mankind. :D

(Some of last years' growth is over 3/4" thick).

A friend of mine is a Tree Surgeon and helped me shift some branches after a storm. We admired his Silky Bigboy. :? Seriously.

I put shit loads into AVCs, not so sure if it's a good idea or not, but it keeps my salary down as far as the tax man is concerned.

Several meetings, then taking Holy Communion to someone who is housebound. Off to another pastoral visit, then to the afternoon "oldies club" where I did a thought of the day. Then another pastoral visit and back home this afternoon. Somehow I managed to pack in a shopping visit as well, so we have food for Easter when a good friend is visiting (and our son comes home for a short stay), so bought rump steaks for them to enjoy. Me, I'll have tuna steak being pescatarian. A good day today.

Just rolled off a brutal run of 5 nights. 1hrs kip then dog No.2 to vets for eye check up, ulcer from running into something is healing well but you need more drops etc so £95. Stopped at Butcher's to get Sunday roast for work. Later I'm off to the car dealer to possibly put a deposit down on an new Hyundai Tuscon, this may not go well as I'm running on a serious sleep deficit and if they think I'm paying list when CarWow are showing 4-6% off from dealers in the South it may be a short visit.

Managed to break my phone.

Was getting set up to get rid of this old donkey (Galaxy S8) to reach the dizzying heights of an S10 hand-me-down from Mrs. Gremlin.

Went to take out the sim and...well, this came off in my hand:

Sim is still in situ as I can still make calls, but not sure how to winkle out the sim without damaging it. Plus, this phone being sent back to Samsung is conditional on Mrs. Gremlin getting £150 trade in on her new S23 Ultra.

Hmmm. Thoughts?

A gentle tap into your hand May free it off and fall out. If not I would go with poking around with a screwdriver option, that’s my usual way.
Good luck

Can you see the end of the SIM? How deep inside is it? They tend to be sit quite firmly in the contacts. If a pair of v fine nose pliers won't get it, could you put a dab of superglue on something (or a couple of things) and attach to the edge of the SIM to give something to pull on? Bit of a long shot though.

If all else fails...local dodgy phone shop can probably take it apart and may have a replacement SIM carrier.

Request a replacement SIM card, transfer your number and leave that in there, put the broken front back on and pretend you have no idea.

Nope. Tighter than a nun's nasty in there. Can't see owt and my poking about has obviously moved the card as I'm now not on the network.

However, in the depths of my despair came Mrs. Gremlin. Being the paragon of common sense and practicality she said, 'Why don't you just order a new SIM, put the broken cover back in and we'll send the phone back. When you get the new sim just put it in the new phone'.

God damn it, I knew there was a reason I married that woman!

Yeahbutt, then you've been beaten by an inanimate object. When that happens, the word goes out and all the other inanimate objects in your future will know you're a surrendering easy touch.

Life will become very difficult when that happens. :(

Another tip run, after a morning larking about on the beach.

A dead pressure washer and bits, a dead compressor and a supermarket crate trolley. And not just any supermarket, this is an M&S one. With a wonky wheel.
