Received the new pannier stays I'd ordered for the MT09.

Re: What have you done today thread?
My mum passed away this afternoon. In reality, she passed 11years ago when my dad died. As much as she loved us all, losing her man was more than she could handle. Sadly it was a long, gradual, but inexorable decline. Dementia took her a few years later and within a couple more years we were strangers. I saw her on Monday. Barely conscious, talking to her mum and dad. I am comforted by the thought that she was, in her mind, with her parents. I saw her this evening to say goodbye. I'm glad she's not suffering any more. If anyone told me you could lose someone more than once, I'd not understand. You can. Sleep tight mum.

Condolences Buckaroo.
It's pretty awful how dementia steals people from us.
As RB says, we still have the good times to remember.

Deepest condolences. May the treasured happy memories bring comfort and peace, and may you in time find the space to let go the long goodbye you have lived and now it has happened, it is over. Blessings.Buckaroo wrote: Wed May 07, 2025 11:47 pm My mum passed away this afternoon. In reality, she passed 11years ago when my dad died. Sorry for your loss Buckaroo. It is a cruel disease.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

Re: What have you done today thread?
So sorry to hear that, Buckaroo. Dementia is the cruellest of diseases. Like you say it takes them away from you twice. I had pretty much the same experience with my Mum. After Dad died she just diminished is the only word I can find, and dementia set in after a while. At the end she scarcely recognised me. Try and remember your Mum in healthy, happy times and let her live on in your memory in that way.Buckaroo wrote: Wed May 07, 2025 11:47 pm My mum passed away this afternoon. Re: What have you done today thread?
Today I cleaned out the fork seal that was leaking and have been able to ride the bike again without oil pouring down the leg! So had a lovely bimble out into the wilds of Kent and back, had a "How to do Social Media" meeting. So the bike was employed as the method of transport.
About to have an online meeting regarding my daughters treatment and ongoing support. Also have to collect various parcels for the wife and book bike in for MOT next week. Expired today!!
Tonight I have a solemn VE Day service in my church, end of service with the ringing of our church bells.

Re: What have you done today thread?
For some reason I have no meetings this afternoon
. So I extended my lunch hour, wandered outside, and changed the mower belt - which annoyingly involves unbolting a couple of bits.
The previous belt was missing a significant chunk after t'other half last used it - the conversation last weekend when I started it went as follows:
Me: 'could you not hear the weird noise?'
Him: 'what weird noise?'

He has a knack for popping the belt off on a regular basis, but goodness knows how he managed to knacker it so badly. Ho hum. On the plus side, he does at least do the mowing sometimes
Quickish job, so now I'm back to driving my desk for the rest of the day. Rewriting done of our website blurb, the joy.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Been and decommissioned another office we've closed. Said goodbye to a bunch of people being made redundant and collected their laptops and passes. Not a great day to be honest, having a beer now.
