When I was working in Dublin they were showing the highlights of a International Rules series that facilitates Eire (Gaelic footy) playing Australia (Aussie Rules 'footy/rugby').

The series highlights appeared to be a sequence of punch-ups.

I have a hearing appointment in Benidorm at 1pm. I was going to ride up but wifey thought it would be a good idea if she came and we had breakfast. At the moment I'm following her around Beni while she's looking for a Spanish cafe. 😂

We used to go to Tarragona a lot and would occasionally take the kids into Salou for the bright lights and tacky shops. It was the same there. We eventually found a Dutch place that did some Spanish food other than microwaved paellas, but otherwise it was all Sunday roasts, Chip shops, pizzas and burgers! :D

Depends where you are. The seaside resorts are not the issue, it's places like Barcelona where all the rental housing has be turned into Airbnb's. It's not just a Spanish thing either, you only need to visit the Cotswolds to see "over tourism".

I work with a guy from Malaga. 3 years ago, he rented his apartment out as he was coming here to work. It's just come up for renewal, and they are offering him over 60% more than what he rented it for 3 years ago! He isn't impressed by this at all, saying how will his family be able to stay in the city they were born in and how it will force them to live further out and ruin the spanish family dynamic etc.

I think it's the same in all tourist areas. We have that issue here. Resort is too expensive for season workers due to people realising they can make more renting to tourists for Christmas/New Year and February holidays; so now people have to find places in the valley and commute up, so the prices in the valley are getting very silly. Will only get worse if they do ever build the sodding funicular link from Aime to the resort (been talking about it for 20+ years but we have the olympics coming in 2030, so I think some people want it to happen at last - probably those who will make money from selling land or doing building etc   )

Sux a lot really :( :( :(

Considering the hurling guys seem to get twatted with big sticks every 2 minutes the amount of fouls was pretty low and no fights, although the ref did give a yellow card to one teams water boy

Mostly wondered how the human race survives !! And realising I need to learn more French swear phrases !!!

I'd like to think that Darwin's Law would wipe out the stoopid, but the downside is that it rarely does and any incident is always someone else's fault, so not lessons learned either

I think I need to work where people are not, rather than with the public/tourists - sadly I don't have the skills to do a WFH job

Not today, Sunday - didn't want to clog up the TdF thread more with the Etape stuff !!

Bloody lovely late lunch this !! (NO !! I didn't eat all that     )

This guy is freaking awesome !!!

Pretty sure no one does the Etape on a Bromptom type bike unless it's for a bet, right ??

Rich -

Antoine -

They finished within 3 seconds of each other on time, not on the road but apparently the same average speed !!!! (Rich started around 15 mins earlier). So very chuffed for them both; Rich is 54 (I think) and Antoine 37 (I think) - so Antoine had age on his side but he's got an ankle injury that meant they almost fused his ankle a couple of years ago and has only been back road riding properly in the last 18 months or so; kudos to them both :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

I've been out overtaking motorcyclists in my classic 400bhp+ Pork.
Its definitely the most fun you can have with your clothes on, although I did consider driving around naked as well :D

Been in the work underground car park helping two nice but dim geezers, who had no clue about bikes, push an old Yamaha Thundercat out, up the ramp and into a van.

Said 'Cat was mine over 20 years ago, until I sold it to a colleague. He rode it for a few years then parked it up down there and left it as he had a newer bike. Anyhow, company is moving so he got told to shift it. Muggings here got roped into pushing the fecking thing, with virtually no air in the tyres with Dumb and Dumber doing their best to have it over.

Anyhow, it's now on its way to Clacton in a dodgy-looking Transit where my colleague is going to restore it to its former glory. Yeah...right.

Honestly, the bike is fecked. Corroded to buggery, hadn't been started in at least 15 years and IIRC it had done over 100k miles. It weren't great when he parked it up and left (dumped) it there. If the two geezers who put it their van think they've just carried out the heist of the century, they're gonna be in for a nasty shock when they come to sell it.

Edit: did make me smile: as we've pulled it out from its dark corner of the car park, I spotted a really old Visordown.com sticker that I'd stuck on the plastic chain guard over 20 bloody years ago. :D

Had an interesting day on the buses - did a service route with some interesting bus stops that i do tend to struggle to get the bus close to. Not ideal because there's a lot of old people that use this service and "taxi to the kerb" type stops are not great!!

I tried very hard at one point and did hit the kerb a bit hard with the front wheel - I was laughing and apologising as they got on and one lady said - it's ok, I saw what happened, the pavement moved!!!

I do like people with a sense of humour !! :angelic-green: :angelic-green: :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingcheers:
