Went for a dog walk today and on my local heath land there is a weather station that’s a bit off the beaten track, so I went to have a look at it and it’s actually a soil moisture monitoring station which uses cosmic rays to measure soil moisture levels!

Hope the computer equipment uses ECC Memory.

Single bit memory errors can be caused by cosmic rays.

Forgot a doctors appointment for my annual checkup.

In spite of me having it in the calendar of my phone and receiving 2 (yes 2) reminders from the doctors somehow I was convinced it was on Tuesday morning.

I realised after checking my phone 10 minutes after I was supposed to be there.

I wonder if senility is going to be part of the check up.

Doh!

Upgraded my 'not-upgradable' laptop from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
:obscene-drinkingcheers:

I don't use it much, so didn't really want to shell out for a new one. Wondered if I could replace a component or something, so had a quick Google and found this very helpful article:
https://www.zdnet.com/article/how-to-up ... e-options/

Piece of piss. Took about 30 minutes. Win. 😎

Treated the GS to a new Road 6. It's the most I've spent on one tyre for a very long time. £175 on a rear wheel.

It had 6s on already and they do the miles, reckon 8K easy. Front ok for a bit longer, it ain't doing any trackdays.

3 bikes in the reception, bmw brick chop up, looked ok i thought, and a nice enough Z 650 and i think a Harley.

Been here for mot s for a good while but first for a tyre. I was in the area this morning so popped in. He ordered it there and then, in for pm and back on bike now. So so easy on these GSs. 👍

Went to the fang farrier as I cracked part of a tooth off 3 weeks ago. No pain etc, just a sharp edge

Dentist: Oh that's easy, no need for anesthetic
Me: Ok, go for it.

tbf, not the first time she's said this & the other time was painless/trauma free etc.

5 minutes done & dusted :)

Went to the Trivia Night deal at the pub.. risky proposition around here.. There were 20 teams..
Two teams were Luftwaffe guys & German aerospace engineers from Edwards AFB
Another team were aerospace engineers from Lockheed
At least one other team, maybe two, were NASA engineers from Marshall Space Flight Center at Redstone in Alabama

The per-capita average for engineers* in the US is 0.5%, here it's at least 5x that.

*aerospace, mechanical, computer etc.

When I actually left it said 7hr 47 minutes.

Obviously we stopped for fuel, pee breaks for both Max and I, and I even took an opportunity to wash the van once we'd reached the East coast. Total time was approx 9 hours which I was very pleased with.

We hovered around 75- 80mph on the toll road (limit is 81mp 130kmh) and got over 36 mpg
On the regular dual carriageway, we sat at indicated 72mph and still got over 37 mpg

The new place looks ok !

I love drives like that. The last one I did was from Uckermark to Calais. Fueled up in Berlin, next stop was Venlo for more fuel and then onwards to Coquelles for the tunnel.

More importantly though, do you still have all your coolant?

It's not like that, except for the general knowledge which is the first round. They have a visual round, which last night was famous paintings, but done in crayon... Mona Lisa, American Gothic, Whistlers Mother, Starry Night, The Scream, Sunflowers, I forget the other two.

Our team was "Hieronymous Anonymous". Others were "Ha ha, Hulk Hogan's Dead" & " And in second place, just kidding, first place"... who came in 4th...

You said "rooms" not the entire facility.. & HR at Lockheed is outside the fence.

Found out that even buses have the posh type of key 🤣🤣

Not 100% posh as you still have to put it in a slot, but hey - I get the Luxe today 🤣🤣

Sadly it’s manual but so far so good - now got to go back down from my resort then up to the one that’s proper twisty and narrow - so that’ll be interesting 🤣🤣🤣
