Fazer 1000
Thinking ahead here but if i get another good summer at work i may upgrade my 600 for a 1000. What bothers me is the smaller tank (18lt) but looking at the spec sheet it says 50+ to the gallon. Is this realistic on longer runs at sensible speeds?

Re: Fazer 1000
I had one briefly. Absolutely stonking bike but the wife made my flog it as I was doing wheelies everywhere.
50 mpg is probably achievable but you might as well get a CB500 for all the speed you'll be doing.

Re: Fazer 1000
But the CB dont look to nice. I am thinking of going two up touring Euroland again as its been a few years. My 600 Fazer would most probably do it but it does feel cramped with two and no luggage.Bigjawa wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 8:54 am I had one briefly. Re: Fazer 1000
What you want is a nice 900 Divvy with a full set of period Krauser luggage, or something.

I always wanted one TBH and still look at them but probably not as much fun on the twisty roads when out for a Sunday blast.KungFooBob wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 11:48 am What you want is a nice 900 Divvy with a full set of period Krauser luggage, or something.

They're not actually that big physically, it wouldn't be my first choice for two up touring, but if you go for one, try to get one that has been "Ivanised" as they run beautifully. My one had the kit and it was lovely right through the rev range. If it wasn't for SWMBO, I'd have kept it.

Re: Fazer 1000
I remember reading about that but i think around 2026 there was an engine change as well as a few other changes like USD forks so hopefully that was cured also.

Re: Fazer 1000
It's just the early ones with the 98 R1 based engine, later ones are fine, my 98 R1 used to jump out of second gear if you changed gear quickly.Felix wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 8:59 pmI remember reading about that but i think around 2026 there was an engine change as well as a few other changes like USD forks so hopefully that was cured also.

Re: Fazer 1000
Sod it. Made enquiries about this bike
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/116961567845
If he offers me close to what i paid for my baby Fazer last year then i may just go for it. Failing that spring is just around the corner so i may sell mine and look private as £3K seems about right for an 06 model

Re: Fazer 1000
If I got that I'd have to take the damaged sticker off the top of the fuel tank. Looks good though (screen aside).
