Well we killed a wheel and mech and injured a child a bit. Hes sorta ok but delicate and cuts and bruises. So not quite sure if he'll be up and riding tomorrow, i suspect he will.

I've put a new wheel and mech on it and he did a fairly gentle seeding run at cruise pace just to set a time

Everyday is a school day (don't tell the young'uns), steady away as they say, hope he's OK, we wouldn't bounce as well at our age ;)

Just seen on insta he decided not to ride today ☹️

Feel for him and for you, lot of effort racing their on Friday only to not get a race run.

When’s his next race?

Yup, just seen the Insta. Pointless racing broken, give him my best wishes.

Thanks fellas. I think if the weather was better he may have risked it.

There ended up being 13 in his Cat who either DNF or DNS, with most of that coming from morning practice. It was insanely wet and slippy... So it was just taking a semi-injured rider and asking him to push a run or 3... Wasn't worth the risk in truth. It was a HARD decision for both of us, especially with the insane drive and expense to get there and back. But it was of course the correct decision.

Next weekend is Minehead... Enduro race, National level, i'm really curious to see how it goes.

It's cleanup, sorting and then bike prep day today.

When you get back after a wet weekend there's SOOOOO much to sort, from the cooking stuff to riding kit, ground sheets, tent, gazebo and then of course the bike.
Bike has the forks now stripped out and ready to go in a box and head to TFTuned for servicing.
Frame is in bits with everything off and going for a full bearing swap (i only stripped and re-greased) at Rotec
I've requested 2 new rims from STANS and Upgrade Bikes.

I've got tyres to swap on the Enduro bike for the weekends racing as well, but that doesn't necessarily need to be today.

Rider is still in bed healing up....

This morning means as well as the sorting a little tyre swapping for the weekend for him.

So first up is a Tack Chan radial supersoft for the front of his Fuel, along with the Kryptotal soft on the back.

Then spare wheels will be a pair of DHR IIs on for him. I'll also send him with an emergency spare tyre.

I had a long chat with Hattie Harnden on the weekend. For anyone who doesn't know her.

https://www.rootsandrain.com/rider74374 ... n/results/

She's been there, done everything, won everything, many many titles etc. But mainly i was chatting to her as she's an Enduro superstar having won many EWS races and the Overall.
We were discussing the various merits of bike purchases/plans and the answer was "stick with that then", rather than swapping to a different model. So i need to sit down and chat to TFTuned to work out whether we go Zeb on the front or Lyrik ultimate. The back end is OK with the Vivid air if we can get it dialled, or the Vivid Coil if we can't. But the base Fox 36 are a bit weak for his needs on some of the trickier courses i think.

We've got a little debate with ourselves as to whether we drop some new rims onto the wheels, but we'll see how they hold out in the next few weeks.

hahaha. Can't say it bothers me or indeed him. Thoughts are the Tacky is awesome on the front, whereas he loves the Krypto and is happy with it, so we'll leave it on... Doesn't matter for a second :D

Well i've just done my first ever rim swap. Although due to lack of truing stand i've left that job to my LBS at Rotec. But that's my first done...

Lessons....i need better tools.
I also need to watch someone doing it as my process was somewhat rubbish that's for sure.

But it could have gone a lot worse.

I'd say so. I've got some better tools arriving in the next few days which may make it a nicer job.. but i dunno, i'm not convinced by wheel building yet.

The boy is rocking the Enduro vibe this weekend. National Enduro race down in Minehead.

Been a few interesting discussions with bike spanner stuff lol. He thinks he's got something loose in his forks, but in truth, i have no clue.

He's got his seeding run in 10 mins, which counts as his Stage 1 for the overall as well, the rest of the stages are tomorrow.

MAnaged P9 on the seeding stage, not far off the podium but a chunk off the leader. Funnily enough, we used to race him and his brother even 8 years or so ago, both were incredubly fast even then.

The boy is struggling a little with a dead leg from a crash in practice, so we'll see how that all pans out for tomorrow, but for now, he's done and there's not a lot else i can do here.
