Personalised number plate suggestions

Post by cheb »

I have to register my trailer and it will have its own reg number. I've done the initials on the van* so I'm looking for suggestions. The plate will being with UM and then I can have up to 5 letters or numbers. It costs 10 Euro to have a personalised plate over here, cheap enough for a tightwad like me.

So far I've thought about 'bongo', 'err' 'lout' and 'brage'.

*Readers with a sensitive disposition may wish to skip this. We have matching vans with linked number plates, our first initials and the date of our first meeting on hers and our second meeting on mine. I warned you. A search for george du maurier fond and foolish will find you one of my favourite cartoons. I can't find a good link to it.

NB Filly struggled, for years, to remember our wedding anniversary and my birthday.

I think it annoys her slightly not only that I remember our first date (04/03/95) - I even kept the diary page :D

PR13ST will do me nicely. I may get that for the Triumph. Let me go and see how much that is.....

Is it possible to look for a specific number somewhere? If so, where? I’ve never been able to find any number that I might have fancied.

P55 FLP is available for £250 from DVLA. I had it, but my wife made me cancel the order, saying she wasn't getting in any car with that as a VRN.

Is it possible to find and buy a no like that ^^ eg from a dealer? I’ve always wondered how people get hold of even slightly unusual numbers.

From my understanding (but very old info) it was possible (80's & 90's) to buy a vehicle in the county with the correct letters you wanted and get them to keep the numbers you wanted for your car so, sell enough to get the 11 and keep SM11 for the daft bird's new car.

No idea if that is still possible - I mean, even in 2011, that configuration only meant anything to a small handful of people IRL life and some bikers on a couple of forums - wouldn't have been a list of folks wanting it I shouldn't think

...and I thought it was so obvious I wouldn't have to explain.

UM - T - DUM - T

The "joke" is that it requires a tiny amount of brain power to see it. Doesn't work on everyone. Obviously.
