Yep, seems to be working.

We probably won’t have the lockdown lifted for another 3-4 weeks though.

Still, if it flattens the curve (to use the latest buzzphrase) it’ll be worth it.

I'm surprised. I'd have thought that with everyone at home on wifi that the 4/5G market would be quiet. I know there's a forecast for roaming revenues to be down by $25B for 2020.

I've used 4G more in the last 4 days than i have for a long time. The cable(fibre0 internet has been down twice in the last 4 days in Chelmsford. Friday because someone hit the termination box up the road and yesterday we lost BT, Sky, Plusnet and Virgin . I was rigth in the middle of our weekly conference call so had to tether to the works phone. It was only down for a couple of hours this time though.

Lockdown going well... had a refreshing 8 mile walk around the lanes, met 2 dog walkers and a jogger. All very friendly and sensible. The outdoor folk are becoming more friendly for some reason. United under uncertain times maybe.

As for vehicles, van's, farm vehicles and the odd car, but on the whole very quiet. There's about 400yrds of main road before the lanes, 2 ambulances and 1 police car, all just cruising through, I thought afterwards about a big thumbs up, maybe another day.

One of the issues I am having is my hands are bloody sore!! Washing them regularly plus alcohol gel, really becoming painful, might need some moisturiser!!!

You still going out and about then Mick ?

I've only been out twice in 10 days for anything where i may touch or come in contact with anything.

For them i wore a pair of Nitrile gloves.

Only for work but once there I’m in and out, limited staff so limited contact but the rule in our place is if you go out, wash your hands when you come back in.
The issue is the general public still break down, still crash, still need help so we have to interact at a distance, but a lot of them don’t seem to feel the rules apply to them. Nitrile gloves rule, always got a couple of pairs in a pocket!!

Warning on the BBC a little while ago that nitrile gloves can give a false sense of security ... ( eg you may still touch your own face more than you think ) . Keep washing them mitts Mick . Stay Well .

Bit like Yorick, the lockdown here is a bit more severe than in the UK

Originally, people were allowed to jog/run, cycle, walk out and it was presumed that the public would be sensible. Because they weren't (groups of cyclists, joggers, walkers - meet ups in parks etc) we can only go out as far as 1km from our home address. So in general, in the valley, no point cycling.

Up here I've seen a few cycles on turbo thingies on balconies. A few joggers - today I've seen the same person go past and back twice, guessing she is going home and filling out a new form in between each run!!! Lots of people walking - but mostly just to the local shop. Usually alone, but sometimes in families


For me, as a natural hermit (albeit one that loves socialising as well!) I am ok with this. Ok, my place is only 13.7sqm, but I have a sofa and a bed, so don't have to faff about with making and unmaking the sofa into a bed!. I can sit at the window and look out to see Mont Blanc. I've chatted with a couple of friends as they have walked past my place

Really, it's very similar to the inter season - just more snow and more people!! And I'm not allowed to see people rather having to persuade myself to go out!! LOL

It's a bit sad that we have soooo much snow and we can't go out on it - ski touring is banned. If you have a problem/accident ski touring, then the resources needed to rescue and treat you are huge, so it made sense to ban it. If I had a working motorbike, maybe I'd be a bit miffed at not being able to ride it. But then, as I'm due a shoulder rebuild as soon as they are back to doing ops, it's probably safer not to ride anyway! LOL

I try and walk for about half an hour each day but last week I didn't as had headaches and felt a bit rubbish. Can't quite believe that that would have been the virus (only about three days!), so am putting it down to stress (fckwit customers being bullies).


Yesterday was miserable as it was grey, misty. But today the sun is out again so it's blooming lovely living up here - even if I can't go out much!

I should be in Majorca on my stag do as of around 10:30 in the AM today. Instead I have, been out and bought bread, made a lasagne and watched the boy all day whist his mum organised his room. Rock & Roll! I’m on leave from work and not due back until a week on Monday. I’m pretty sure I’m going a little mad as every day passes.
I need to sell my van and buy a car, which is also driving me mad as I can’t make my mind up what to buy. E-class Merc/BMW 5 series/ Audi A6/ Skoda Superb??? So many pros and cons for them all and the fact it’s going to be older I’m just going round in circles reading horror stories about stretched cam chains, knackered injectors, dodgy air suspension etc etc etc...

Yeah I had a 2007 Ghia x estate. It was a great car, my second Mondeo as well. The only negative was it was a 2.5 v6. Sounded great, but was really really thirsty and the tax was £500 a year. I’ll have a look at them again to be sure.

It’s not till 9th of August, so it’s up in the air mate. We were just going on the stag early so as not to interfere with family holidays.

personally, if i was looking for that sort of car, i´d grab a kia stinger.

the spec for the price is excellent, build quality is good, and 7 year guarantee.

their days of churning out cheap utilitarian transport has changed somewhat.
