It appears I am a walking/sitting/lying buffet for the little fukkers :angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack:

I've given in a plugged in a Raid Max thingy - I dislike the idea of them but I have been bitten/stung/sucked from so much since I got home that it's madness :( :( :(

Ordered a Cardo PackTalk Edge two weeks ago ready for my hols.

FedEx have lost it.

Can't cancel the order because it's 'en route' but with no delivery date.

On the plus side, they're now cheaper than they were three weeks ago, so I've ordered another one from somewhere else. It's got nine days to turn up, so fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, anybody want to buy a lightly used Cardo Freecom2X?

Lost touch with a couple who were mainly friends of my ex B-i-L, a casualty of my sisters divorce I suppose. Anyway my Sister bumped into the lady yesterday and we found out he is now bedridden, can hardly talk and has to be fed and cleaned as he has Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). Dreadful shame, and more so as he was one of life's nice people.. Life can be cruel at times...

Life is indeed a complete bastard, often.

The phrase "only the good die young" is horrible but often feels true; leaving "only the awful live for fucking ever" !!

Mixer taps :(

I pay for water usage here.

BUT - the taps in the bathroom and in the kitchen are mixers. So, I have to waste water to get hot and again, waste water to get cold :( :(

This pisses me off and more than I would expect !!!

Banks...
The other week I recieved a Email from the bank stating that the amount of funds that are currently in my fancy 'Premier' account aren't enough to qualify for said account, theyr'e going to downgrade me to the usual plebs current account next month.( I'm drawing down my savings until I reach retirement age),I tried phoning them to make an appointment about my finances only to get the automated AI run around.I then decided to go to the bank for a face to face discussion,.I tried to find the phone number to make an appointment, but once again you have to go through the AI shit show.
This morning I drove to the bank (it's a 20 mile round trip) & there's a sign on the door telling us all that they're sorry but the bank's temporarily shut,no date given as to when they're opening :wtf:
Just to rub salt into the wound this bank used to advertise itself as the 'Worlds local bank'
I'm now looking at moving all my finances elswhere.

I've just Googled their interest rates, they seem similar to what's on offer elsewhere, just with a £25 a month fee attached.

As with all things in life, you get what you pay for.

A 'free' bank account is one of life's big lies, on par with 'No, of course it doesn't make your bum look big'.

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, a current account requires endless systems to make it run, an app, security beyond measure, compliance-by-a-thousand-cuts, call centres, overdrafts, mandatory written correspondence, the list is endless. And how much did sir want to pay for this?

And before the old trope get wheeled out of, 'They get to invest my money every day': hmmmm, not really. Any current account balance is a liability on the balance sheet, not an asset. Can't be used for any capital or liquidity purposes, yet has to have capital held against it in case it disappears on Day 1.

The only reason we get 'free' bank accounts is because we're more likely to use said bank for other money-making products, such as savings, mortgages, etc. You become, in effect, a marketing pool.

Hence my comment re 'dependent upon financial situation' for Handelsbanken. Bring a current account over and you'll be given a very polite nod toward the door: no money to be made there. Bring a big mortgage, a business account, etc. over as well and maybe they'll break out the posh biscuits. Gotta be some reciprocity: you want the service, they want the business.

I just want a good old fashioned chat with someone & 'The worlds local bank' is currently making it difficult,so I'll find somewhere that makes human contact & discussion less difficult
Looks like I'll be moving over to the Nationwide

I moved to Nationwide - after they closed the local branch of the bank I've been with since I was a student. (HSBC, NatWest, Barclays, Lloyd's...and the Halifax branch in an estate agents all shut up shop).

As for the quid pro quo that was mentioned regarding 'free' banking - I get our car and home insurances via Nationwide.

Never regretted the move and can always get a face-to-face if I need to.
