Ah! May not be broken.

Been wearing it for a few hours and the second hand has progressed about 50 seconds!

I know the adventures of an old cheap Seiko are the most scintillating things on this thread, so I'll keep you updated :D

Old Seikos can be fixed - for a price! I paid £225 for a full service and that one was still working.

Mr. Dazzle wrote: Fri May 16, 2025 4:18 pm Even brand new Seiko 5s don't offer any particular resistance when being manual wound, you can also wind them "forever" without hitting a stop.
Thats cos the outer end of the mainspring isn't fixed, its just held by a little braking grease which provides just enough stickyness to stop the spring from unwinding but allows it to slip so the automatic winding mechanism can't overwind it.

Or at least thats how I understand it anyway.

IIRC, the older Seiko 5s didn't allow hacking or handwinding, Caliber Corner suggests that the 6309 Seikos neither hack nor handwind.

I'm sure mine doesn't hand wind, it's one with the winder at 20 mins past so different but it only takes a few moments of waving around to wind it enough to wear

Mine appears to be a 7S26 or 36 caliber ( difficult to read in low light). I still have the booklet it says only 4206, 4207, 4217 or 4S15 can be hand wound

I like that too, but 2 watches in quick succession will see me paying for a divorce too.

'99 TAG Kirium: a somewhat rare one: it's the automatic Chonometer and it's a bit battered (but I don't mind that at all), and in the rare "copper" colour - although it looks more salmon pink unless the light hits it right (its definitely more colourful in photos).

and a similar age ladies F1 for her.

I have the (almost) exact same F1 - I've had it since about 1987 I think...

I do still have the metal jubilee style strap like yours.

Got the watch, nice fit, lighter than my Edifice one, looks smart enough and is pleasing to wear! Blue strap may go though.

For anybody who likes Christopher Ward, they have opened a new showroom in Mayfair. I may have to pop in one day just get a hands on feel.

I would really like to like CW watches. But I just cannot get my head round their dull or tacky designs ...

I was casually perusing the Tudor website looking at Black Bays, when I spotted the new Ranger, it's military/expedition stylee.

I likes!

Especially this face/strap combo.
