Our place is the family hub. All family BBQs are held here as have a large number of Xmases and even my Mums wedding reception. But as the wife says, things have changed withh all the kids grown up etc. So we're going to go to our favourite little coastal town up the road. Its oinly 50 miles/an hour a way so we'd still be close to the older relatives, but put ourselves first for once. Not sure how we'd pay for this as I cant draw my pension for 5 years yet, but I think I can do something with my private pension?

Both my in laws and my mum and step dad moved to the Kent coast.
Mum and stepdad are still down there making each other miserable and I think they're only still there as my sis and her kids are Medway & Herne Bay so they can pop in. If I go down there it's over an hour each way so it's kind of a 'plan ahead' thing. Fine at the moment as they are both fit an healthy.
In laws moved to Broadstairs, mother in law was ill for some years before they had to move back up here as it was too much for the f-i-l. Only the housing market had overtaken his investments and so we had to buy into a bungalow up here otherwise it just couldn't happen. Worse thing they ever did was to move away.
Not sure what the moral of these two stories is, but I think it's to ensure you have a support network of friends and family in place when you make that final move.

Yes we should get similar to what we’ve got here for a bit less. Once Mrs T has put up a thousand useless signs and all her twinkling lights and various bits and pieces it’ll feel like home soon enough.

Happy wife, happy life and all that…

My wife just told me she wants us to retire and she wants us to move house.
We're moving in about 16 months time.
To within a few miles of forest of Dean. Its now the seaside, but I'm more a foresty kind of boy

I used to stay at a campesite just down the coast from Jaywick. We'd got for walks round Jaywick for a bit of amusement!

I am seeing a flaw in mrs Taipans idea of moving house. She has made no consideration for the contents of the loft-and-sheds-of plenty!

There will be nothing left. Mrs T has come up with a plan of attack. We (me

) are to go into the loft and bag up two black sacks a week. If I haven't looked for it in a year, it can go.

Heartless bitch!
