Today I took the wife to the local garden centre, bought 3 x 80l bags of compost and various seed packets, that's her birthday present sorted.
As an extra special event we had lunch there aswel, my first ever meal in a garden centre, the beginning of the end. ☠

Almost dropped the Zed turning in the driveway. I've been used to the great steering lock on the old H1s,the things can turn like a dirt bike, but when I forgot the Zed was more like a sportsbike turning circle,it reminded me in no uncertain terms.

I did the same last time out on the MT. Emergency foot down time. The Enfield and GS both have great turning.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I went to Ikea.
Despite promising never to go again.
I then assembled 6 EKET cubes, bolted them all together, put some legs on the bottom and some hidden bracing plates. It's going to be shoe storage.
I've a sideboard to build tomorrow too.

If I had to do it all again today, I'd buy all my furniture from the charity shops. Solid old stuff. As long as the wood colour matches in each room all good.

It's all going in the (at the moment freezing cold) conservatory to try and smarten it up, it's become a general dumping ground.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Fell over in Wells. Tripped over a high curb. On the way down I collared a chair outside the cafe. I pushed that into swmbo's ankle and big toe. I got my knees and hand not too badly, but she is limping and said she was about to pass out with the pain.
Apparently I am always trippong over and it's my age.
I confess to tripping over shit ( sometimes there isnt actually anything to trip over except the floor), but this is probably the third or fourth time I have ever gone flat out down . I am 75, so I noes I is old....but ffs!

Re: What have you done today thread?
You can still buy solid all wood furniture. It just costs a lot more than IKEA
Everyone seems to forget that IKEA brought down the average cost of furniture loads. Solid wood, solidly constructed stuff was always expensive.

I've got 2 big storage units in the man cave. One for helmets and clobber and one for all my tools.KungFooBob wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:44 pm I went to Ikea.

Sounds like Mrs.Skub's antics. Last time she wanted stuff out of the garage and instead of putting on her shoes she stuck on a pair of my old Altbergs, more than double her size, then promptly fell over her feet and clunked her scone requiring several stitches and a looong wait in a weekend A&E. I didn't even get my Sunday dinner first.David wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 7:05 pm Fell over in Wells. Tripped over a high curb. On the way down I collared a chair outside the cafe. This evenings fun, Fiesta de San Anton. It starts in a small chapel outside the village then a couple of kilometers to the church.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Moved all the outdoor furniture off the patio.
Rolled up patio rug & laid it in the driveway
Pressure washed patio
Pressure washed outdoor furniture
Pressure washed patio rug
Run errands around town (lottery ticket, oil filter for Explorer ST, photocopying, bank for $$)
Adjourned to the boozer while rug dried
Put rug back on patio
Put furniture back on patio.
Pre-flighted F350 for tomorrows run to my mates bike collection where the SoCal Norton guys are having a BBQ (I've been before, it's a cold hotdog on a dry bun, tight gits).

Re: What have you done today thread?
Just found an unexpected £2500 in my account. I try not to let my f-i-l pay for things online or to anyone and I do it for him and he refunds me. I paid out £250 for him today and he repaid me. If I ever need validating...

My dining room furniture is 1970s teak Nathan, still looks good after50 years. I will bet IKEA stuff will look shit in 10.Dodgy69 wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:52 pmKungFooBob wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:44 pm I went to Ikea.

Wife got paid 500 to much with a client last year. Shit thing about our bank app you cant refund. You need to get the bank details (OK you will know this) to sent it back first.Taipan wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 11:27 pm Just found an unexpected £2500 in my account. You'd loose that bet, I've got Billy book cases older than my 22 year old daughter.Cousin Jack wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 11:34 pm My dining room furniture is 1970s teak Nathan, still looks good after50 years. I will bet IKEA stuff will look shit in 10.
And even if you were right, I'd sooner replace Ikea stuff every 10 - 20 - 30 years than live with 70's furniture
Edit, and come to think of it, the desks (galant) I'm sitting at now, I've had them over 15 years, and I bought them second hand.
