I went to see him today and well, the lights are on but no ones home etc. I think its a question of if he comes back from this, how much of him comes back, iyswim? My wife lost her mum in Fabruary, so this is hitting her hard. Grim.
Hard days man. Take care of yourselves.

More what I didn’t do.
I was supposed to be going for a brunch run on the GS but it was pissing down.
So I suppose that’s the bike in hibernation till spring.

I was rooting around in the garage and discovered a half-full tin of black matt paint. Being tight, I thought I'd paint one of the walls in my gym to add a bit of contrast against the white. Wouldn't need much as the mirror takes up most of the wall. Great idea.
Then I looked at the woodwork. Yeah, that could do with a rub down and freshen up.
Then the other three walls. Hmm, being white they had picked up some marks.
I mentioned my plan to Mrs. G. She agreed and added that she didn't like the hooks with the skipping ropes, etc hanging down. Said they looked messy and has ordered some floating storage to go on the wall.
She then said the floor was looking scuffed and has ordered some rubber crumb interlocking mats.
I seem to have made a bit of a task for myself, all for the sake of not wanting to waste half a tin of paint.

Forgot to update yesterday, fitted the new back door and frame, it took longer to clean up the silicon sealant squishing out from behind the beads holding the glass than fit the frame and hang the door - pre-hung as a complete door set by doordeals and diligently painted over last couple of weeks by me. Just need to find what paint will cover the clear silicon before touching up the nail holes. Any ideas?
Today, doggo out for a run when he bolted to the far side of the park, I casually jogged after him and he was making a fuss of a lovely golden retriever who was in season, he’d done the same last weekend and the other owner was lovely about it all. Got him back on the lead and he was like a love sick teenager for hours afterwards
I left him in his bed to get over himself, headed back out, bought some (even more) new clothes, chinos, jeans and a few jumpers in sizes that fit. Arranged to take a suit jacket in to be resized as well. Supermarket run and trip to car wash, then home to start the limoncello* making process and now searching for recipes to use up 400ml of lemon juice, lemon curd is the current favourite.
*this, sloe gin and chocolate orange “Baileys” to be contents of Christmas gift hampers with anchovy and black olive cheese biscuits, and Christmas pudding shaped malteaser bites. All home made
My office is about 300m from Doordeals
They were great throughout, manufacturing was swift, organised delivery to suit me (give or take), replaced the door handles within a couple of days as they supplied standard 5 lever style rather than euro cylinder. Price for machining hinge and lock rebates wasn’t ridiculous and saved me fucking them up.
I thought he was hinting for a Christmas Hamper as he's neaer (not sure its the same Doordeals mind!!)

Today was interesting. I'm a bit of a weirdo in that I don't generally look out the window in the mornings now it's dark (don't tend to look in mirrors either, but have had to change that after arriving at work with my hair not exactly as I thought!!)
So, ended up a couple of mins late to work as I had to get lots of very heavy wet snow off my car !! LOL
Left the depot on time but met a bit of traffic in Bourg!!
Bus parking area was very very slushy - wet feet time
Then had some more training on putting chains on a coach - did not go well. Fck they're heavy bastards and I dropped on end, got it stuck between the tyres

Once the mechanic had come out (from the workshop, we were doing this at the depot!) and helped my colleague to release it, I tried again.
Did eventually get there, but fck it was very painful.
I have come up with a couple of things that might help me (my colleague gave me some links to add incase it's too difficult to join the hook to the link - and I reckon that if I have a cable tie to help me grip the loop end it will work) - the main thing is that I have to make it happen so that the hook is coming up over from the right side of the tyre/wheel (which means setting it up so that when I reverse or drive, this happens!) leaving me to put my right (spazzy) arm on the top of the tyre with the hook held tight, then I can lift the other side of the chain with my left arm cos I have learned I cannot lift it with my right
Fck disabledness, it makes simple things seriously sodding difficult
My lovely colleague did say that if I ever need to put the chains on, there's a good chance there'll be a lot of other traffic and someone will help - or I can call the depot and see if there's another driver in the vicinity!! So not all bad
And when I got home at lunch my "first tracks" from the morning were still there!!!
All I needed for the view photo was the clouds to lift so the Les Arcs mountains were in shot!!!
Roads were interesting this afternoon

It's a job that requires a definite technique, sometimes different from bike to bike. A spare axle,or a bar of the same diameter fed in from one side can make it easier to line up the spindle from the other side. The Abba Skylift is also a great help, saves having to lift the rear wheel and juggle the spindle.

Yes - I ended up googling for tips and put a bar through then chocked the wheel in place - lots of wiggling then the spindle went through.
Need to adjust the chain and pump up the tyre but it’s back together again.
Easy to get off just hard to put back

Wrote a dot net app to update Shopify stock levels from our on prem ERP.
When I say I wrote, what I actually mean is Co-Pilot wrote an app with some minor input from me.
I'm so glad I work for a smallish family business, if I worked for one of the big boys I'd have been replaced by AI by now.

Been using this for a couple of automations from our Shopify store lately
https://apps.shopify.com/flow
It pulls out the data better than Zapier (and it's free), just doesn't link to many apps just yet but google sheets as a middle man works well.
(I'm another family business tech support who should be retired by a kid typing AI prompts)

It's more fun with GraphQL.
It's a whole lot more frustrating than Rest.

Knocked up some Budget Bingo cards for Rachel's big day. Phrases such as 'Hard-working families', 'Borrowing', 'Fairness', etc., all feature. Hear the phrase, cross it off. First to mark them all off shouts 'HOUSE' and gets the pick of the Dunkin' Donuts box.
Back in the day we'd have a list of words and every time one was said you had a to raise a glass and take a sip, but these are blander times.
