Sorry Skub, alcoholics are fucking horrible people. We've all met a few and can't wait to get away from them, at close quarters they're scum, it's nothing but lies, more lies and using people to get to their next drink. I've dealt with two, one was my aunts husband who died a few years ago, another more recently out here, she went back to England a couple of weeks ago. Both long stories, I did start to write about them but deleted it.

On the subject of old friends - we've just had Bomma and Diversion round for a lazy lunch and a yomp through the woods with our respective hounds. It's been far, far, too long.
Bomma is contemplating getting back on two wheels after a break, so I've told him about this place - I suspect he may appear soon![]()
Which is a bit shit.
A reminder that I should be less shit at staying in touch with people.
And yet, I will remain shit, and the people who are worth knowing will be equally shit, and we will forgive each other

He was a 'change bike like socks' man. I bought his K12LT. The last one I remember him buying was a Triumph Scrambler when they came out around 2006. He tended to have more than one bike in the garage I think.Pirahna wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 6:35 pmThat's sad to hear, I remember him.Rockburner wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 6:23 pm I've just read that Big Nige from VD has passed.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Had an amazing evening in town
Where we live is so different to most Spanish resorts. Everyone calls it a village. All the locals, Brits and Canarians, get on well and all know each other
And because of the lovely weather, 95% of folk sit outside the bars. In the square there's about 15 bars and restaurants and there's always a nice buzz about the place
Me and Elvis were well knows as a double act and every time we went to the square, dozens of folk came to see him. When he went 4 months ago dozens of folk came to see us and offer condolences. Every night I've been down since he went, someone came to ask about him. Many folk are regular visitors and come every year and befriended us
Tonight we took our new boy to the square. He was a sensation. Everyone wanted to meet him. And all were pleased I'd got a new pal
This little fella is gonna be petted and loved by all the locals and tourists.
Gonna be another sensation
I'm a super happy boy. It's been a sad 4 months since Elvis went.

Failed to sleep (rotating off nights and second "normal" sleep is usually rubbish. Walked dogs, mowed lawn, took eldest dog for her anti-arthritis jab and am now about to take dogs out for a short evening walk.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Day of rest! Ignored lots of calls to my phone. Took the daughter to the Hobby Craft for some wool and more stuff for her project. Home to do lunch. Had a siesta nap. Dinner for the family. Small glass of wine with the wife. Ended up checking up on one of my parishioners, she was moved with her two young children into yet more temporary accommodation, no heating (gas mains condemned), no flooring, bare concrete, no furnishing, so they are sleeping on the floor. No cooker, washer or fridge. Bought some them some food basics so they have something for breakfast and lunch. Wrote to my local MP, who knows the family, for help. I can only do so much. Back home rather depressed. The children go to my local school and it is a two bus changes journey for them now. They walked to school before. The mum now has a 3 bus change journey to get to work. Not impossible, but the buses are not reliable.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Just a little update on the situation with my son, because some of you have been pretty concerned. He’s took going to jail pretty hard, he’s refusing all food, he’s spitting and screaming at everyone and is threatening violence at anyone who comes near him. He’s smeared the walls with faeces and is refusing to wear clothes. As a family, we're pretty united in our decision not to play Monopoly with him anymore!!
