I bought the nc750x to serve a purpose. They are fantastic at what I need it to do, which was to commute reliably and economically, into a city with speed camera laden cops along my route. An exciting bike is not needed right now. I have a few commitments, or obligations, or whatever, to some elderly members of the family, and I simply don't have the time to mess around with bike maintenance. So, buying it, with a service plan, made it a calculable way forward.Count Steer wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 6:39 pmSo this could be your last motorbike?!
Or should we start a sweep on how many bikes you can fit in between now and then?![]()
What made you decide to quit? I thought you were inclined to carry on given that you enjoy what you do.![]()
Sadly, I get fuck all support from other family members, due to their misguided principles, again, hence the nc750 purchase. I think my (ridiculous?
Yeah, I do love what I do, but kids leave school knowing more about digital imaging than I'll ever learn. We now have a push to provide imaging that meets the varying FADGI standards, and, TBH, whilst I can do this, it makes it a much slower, lethargic process and not the ad hoc camera work I enjoy.
I'm into my 60s now, so, do I want to keep pushing myself, or maybe start winding down? My wife worries that my health is fading, which, TBF is true. In my 50s I started falling apart with MSK and respiratory problems. So, do I keep working, and looking after other people, or think about myself, and my wife, and tbh, I owe her that. Financially, I think we'll manage? If not, whilst I'm certainly not a money/investment kinda guy, I've always been able to earn it, and I think i'll be able to top up what's needed if that's the case...
TLDR: My life ain't my own, but I want it back
