Drove WAY out on the East side of town among the cartel weed farms (so I was packing) to visit a bike salvage yard to see if they any GPz750 (or other Kaw stuff).
Some stuff, but nothing I wanted or needed. They had an aftermarket GPz fairing that must have weighed 40lb & a set of carbs. KZ650 & KZ750 LTD sitting there, GPz900R front end... and a CBX with 6:6 pipes.
They only open Tue-Fri-5-7pm & until 3 on Saturday as the guy who runs it works out at the Base during the week... & it turns out I know him, 20+ years ago he worked at the local Honda dealership.

Needed to buy oil for the GPz750. Wally World had 15-40 Rotella T4 for almost $60/gal.... unless I bought it using their app in which case it's $22. WTF?
Local(ish) fire still burning... 101deg & thunderstorms today, plus a swarm of minor quakes which I didn't even know about until it was mentioned on the news. Biggest was 4.1

and a skeeter bit my left elbow

Edit:
I should point out that that last year I paid $72 for a 5gal jug of Rotella T4, the F350 takes 4.5gallons of it, just the oil filter holds 1/2 gal

I think I've rekindled my liking of my GS. I've never loved it, but it's performed admirably during my trip so far.

I was thinking of a K1600GT, but it would have been a proper handful on some of the roads I've ridden this week

And I can't think of anything that GS' as well as a GS!

I had an 1150 GS and a K1200GT (at the same time) and the K was very nice for some trips but the GS was much more versatile when it came to looking at routes and thinking "That looks...'interesting..'

The pillion says 'They were both comfortable, the GS was more fun on the more adventurous routes but the K was fasterest'.

Compared to the K1600 behemoth the K12 was positively svelte but with that slabby fairing it could be disconcerting at times in cross-winds. More like the K16 for size was the K12LT and that required preplanning to get into - and be reasonably sure of getting out again - (especially gravel) car parks. I think I remodelled the underside on French mountain hairpins too.

I think @Rockburner has ridden a K16 and IIRC he said it's not nearly as cumbersome as it looks.

All the K1600 reviews say there's nothing in its class that can beat it.

Especially the 'GT Sport', the latest Goldwing doesn't handle anywhere near as well (apparently).

It's still a big bus, I just liked the idea of a six pot momocycle and maybe a bit more comfort.

My GS (last of the 1200 LCs before the minor facelift that then became the 1250) carries just enough luggage, has just enough power, is just enough comfortable two up for 200 mile stints between breaks and being a triple black has every single BMW optional extra.

I'm also very fond of not lubing and adjusting the chain.

So the only replacement in theory is a newer one.

I just don't love it like I probably would a Multistrada, which would snap it's crank and need chain lube.

It is a big bus but I know what you mean about the 6 pot thing. I may have been spotted at one point looking rather intently at a K1600GTL at the Guildford showroom. :D

That really is a big bus - and the experience of piloting an 'L' across France and those mountain roads was enough to break the 'I wonder...' line of thinking. I probably would have gone for the non-L GT in preference but I walked away.

Decided to medicate as recommended by the Dr 4 days ago for the shoulder/nerve issue. I have quite a selection to choose from (30mg straight Codeine, Percocet 10's, Tramadol 50's, Ibuprofen 600 & 800's, Norco 10's, etm). She suggested the Tramadol.

Took one just before heading off to Wally World earlier. It kicked in after I got home, just about put me on my ass & gave me a case of the fuzzies (which I really dislike). Shoulder feels better though...

The K1600 was basically a steroid enhanced K1200S in a big fur coat.

Which sounded like a Porsche.

The Goldwing engine sounded more Porsche-like (unsurprising really :D ) - once it had 6 carbs + a more aggressive cam, as in the Valkyrie. Still only a measly 118 hosses though. :(

If Mrs D could of climbed on it , it would still be here but that never happened and all its been doing is the occasional trip. It was taking up precious garage space aswel so I've dropped down to 1.5 bikes. The MT might get swapped out aswel. 🤔
