Woke up to shoulder/neck muscle pain that makes me wonder if I slept folded up in a 5 gallon bucket.

Popped pills.

I drove to see friends, had lunch**, drove to the rehab centre and caught up with some friends, drove home

3.5 hours driving with leg not quite straight and definitely not 90°

Also sat in chairs with leg at 90° for around 3 hours (probably more) around the driving

Knee is a bit swollen and not too hurty - so that bodes well for going back to work in September :bblonde: :bblonde:

I got to catch up with my friend from the first rehab place and his new wife (I already know her but they got married a few weeks ago :) ); then I went to the most recent rehab place and met with a friend and chatted a bit and with some other inmates, and whilst there I saw the lovely old guy that was in the neighbouring room - extra cool cos he lives about 10 mins from me and is expecting to be released on Friday, so he'll get someone to drive hm down to Aime for coffee or I'll drive up to where he is :)
I was just in the car when the guy I had really gone to see called me and said that one of the nice nurses was on shift and would like to say hi - so I went back and went up to the level I had lived on; ended up seeing the nurse and two of my favourite soignants (healthcare workers).

I've had a cool day :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

** My friends took me to a Chinese for lunch. I was expecting a buffet style lunch which is pretty normal here. Nope. We had fondue. Weird as hell to talk about but damn it was good :) :)

First we had Porc Croustillants & Nems Crevettes :) Then -

The table had a hole in it with a hot plate to keep the liquid warm

Image

The cooking liquid is a bouillon - one side mushroom and the other vegetable

Image

Then they bring a "collar" for the hole that has the meat on it - beef, lamb, pork, chicken and shrimp!!

Image

Then a platter (?) with noodles, shrimp goyza (I think) and something tofu on the top (no one tried those :lol: )

Image

And the other side there was a dish of various mushrooms and veg (pak choi, spinach and cabbage) - and plate of rice to share that I didn't take a photo

Image

I have had many many fondue here, but of course, cheese based!!! (sometimes with ceps mushrooms or brandy to flavour it!!). I've seen the meat fondue where you cook meat but I thought that was in oil, now I need to check if it was in bouillon and not oil !!

BUT, this was very very lovely :) :) Possibly ate too much, but it was good too much as very little rice and the noodles were too complicated to get out of the liquid!! :lol:

I felt a smidge ashamed that I couldn't use the chopstix, but TBF I couldn't use them before I had a spazzy arm :lol: :lol: :lol:

Marc did make the obligatory comment that if you loose something in the fondue you have to get naked :shock: none of us lost anything :lol: :lol: phew !! That's a sight no one needs to see (outside the bedroom with the relevant partner :lol: :lol: :lol: )

Got up, 3 S'd, '83 GPz11 is already pre-flighted & gassed up for today's shenanigans, so will likely be out the door by 8am (currently 6.45AM)
Neil Morrow Band is playing at my local at 3pm, so it will all be a bit Yippee Ki Yay & cowgirls later.

Got my Brompton rear wheel back from a hub service and put it back together again then cycled for the first time in 2 years.
The idea is to cycle to work a few times a week - it’s not far but I’ll have to work up to it!

Been out to play on the bike. No destination, just found some interesting roads and ended up doing 200+ miles. Cornwall, East Devon and South Devon.

Ended up leaving the house before 7.30 this morning.
Good ride to the RockStore.
Good hoon up The Snake & back along part of Kanan & then Mulholland...
Was giving it the sauce in The Playground when my camera mount decided it had enough & parted company with the bike.
Did a U turn to find parts all over the road, camera is proper mullared but still works, even though the battery door & another flappy thing are buggered. The case took most of the impact & I have two more of those.. but not sure the cam will fit inside with bits hanging off etm
GPz11 decided it was going to constantly cut in & out on the way home... but just a quick cut out & then run again.

So now I have four Kaw's that are on blocks for a while. Arsebiscuits. :angry-cussingblack:

How much did the BBQ set you back? I remember when those could be had for less than $50 USD. It wasn't all that long ago either. Now they're around $200. The added bonus is that if you bought one from Home Depot they were nice enough to deform it in the box so the lid wouldn't fit right without some coaxing. Dipshits!

Executive decision time:
Gonna get my auto sparky mate to come over to sort out both the ZX11 & the Gpz11 while I bugger about getting the ZRX11 fettled.

Doctor then physio then home (well, a fair gap for coffee and sitting in the cooler air up the mountain :) )

Then I came home and did some stuff then grabbed a huge bowl of walnuts (well, a plastic thingy that used to have abricots in !! ) only cos I bought a nut cracker on the way home (with some ice cream :angelic-green: )

No more standing in the kitchen with my mini hammer hitting walnuts :lol: :lol:

But dayum - how do they shell walnuts and get them into halves?? This nut cracker is more of a nut crusher :shock: :lol: :lol:

Luckily I don't need halves cos I do just want bitsa noix to add to salad or yoghurt :) :).

Madness - a HOOOOOGE volume of the local (as in the garden) noix and just an iddy biddy tub of actual eatable nut :( :( :( But it did fill the tub on the counter by the other stuff I chuck in the yoghurt :lol: :lol: :lol:

Oh, also walked over 2kms today without needing to use the stick to take some weight off the leg :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde: Al very very happy of that (even though I'm signed off for August as well :( )

Anyway - very local noix -

Image

Interesting, if you translate nuts you get Noix - but actually, noix = walnuts, not just generic nuts :roll: :roll: That got complicated till I worked it out :lol:

peanuts = cacahuètes
cashews = noix de cajou
walnuts = noix
pecans = noix de pécan

Even nuts are complicated here :roll: :roll: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
