They will still make you do it again.KungFooBob wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 2:51 pm Obviously you'll have to tell them you already tried turning it off and on again.
Nah, modern (i.e. not CRT) monitors have lower power draw than the base unit/laptop. And a screensaver does very little to reduce power draw. It's still pushing pixels around.Mr. Dazzle wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 3:32 pm Screen is the biggest power use on your PC innit, that's why I have a screensaver*Savin' the planet.

I read that as 39kWh/hour and thought your monitor must be giving you a suntanMrLongbeard wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 5:58 pm My latest monitor didn't get a very good energy rating, it makes no never mind as I couldn't keep it;

Yeah that's why I added the small text saying it's not a screen saver, it just turns it off. Obviously going to sleep is more extreme than turning the monitor off, but it still helps*
I am sure my old dell laptops woke up with a wiggle on the touchpad. Moved to HP and i dont know what key does at but i just rattle them all then it springs into life.Count Steer wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 6:51 pm I vaguely remember a machine that went to sleep and I was used to waggling the mouse to wake machines up. Nope.
The only thing that worked was the space bar. No other keys just that one.![]()
Next time it is alive look at settings and search sleep. Then click Change when PC is plugged in then change Make my device sleep after... Pick never. You can still have screen savers. You can also find this in Control Panel and Power options.Taipan wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 9:54 pm This is a developed problem. Previously it's always woke with a move of the mouse or tap of any key on the keyboard including space bar, but now, nothing wakes it?
