It's funny you should say that. The same crappy style fairing fastners that were on my 1996 900SS are used on this 2008 848. I've already replaced four of them as a previous hamfisted owner had chewed them up.

Digital dash and it doesn't show much at all. Google maps has a speed built in and there's a shift light on the top of the dash.

Pity it hadn't been ENA on the plate. Maybe it's Mrs.Badger saying NNA 'not now andy'.

Did a sedate 30 miles today, decided I might remove the baffles again as it sounded a bit sewing machine compared to a couple of other bikes at Newlands Corner.





Oh, and a fork seal is weeping. Seems to be some pitting on the lower end of the stanchion, I've tickled it up the raised corrosion smooth with some 1500 wet and dry but will see if they can change the seal when the belts are done this weekend.

Those grips need some nice bar ends.

Quick 20 miles after my last work call to pop to the post office and grab some cider from the shop.



Removing the baffles from the Termis was the right decision; it's loud, but not too offensive, and very similar to my old 900SS.

To sum up...it's big, red, shiny, Italian, loud and sexy. The perfect midlife crisis bike. I fucking love it. Kids point, women's panties fall off, other middle-aged men have the look on their face that says "maybe playing golf was the wrong hobby..." Tremendous. It's awesome. The riding position is no longer a problem either; it just required some recalibration after riding the MT09 for the last six years.

Quick update...

My parents were having a family BBQ party this weekend and the wife kindly suggested I go up on the bike and she takes the kids in the caras I've not had much of a chance to get out on the Ducati. She also surprised me with her statement of "that really is a nice looking motorcycle..." the other week.

Anyway, Surrey/Sussex borders to basically the Triumph factory on Saturday morning. Cross country to High Wycombe, A roads and dual carriageways. Quick blat up the M40 to Cherwell Valley and take the A43 to the A5. NSL dual carriageway with roundabouts every couple of miles gave me a chance to wring it's neck in the first three cogs. Wow. Triple digits arrives quickly and the front wheel comes off the ground far too easily. Big grins for 45 minutes.The A5 to Hinckley is a mix of 40/50/NSL with lots of places to overtake 4 or 5 cars in a go. The bike is a lot of fun above 50mph when the wind takes some pressure off your wrists.

We had someone dog sitting the two hounds but she had to get away about 7:30 this morning so I came back M69/A46/M40/M25/A3. Filtering isn't too bad but wouldn't want to do it too often.

2.5 hours ish and I'm not suffering too bad from being scrunched up on it. Deffo a keeper in the garage and I'll be planning a mini tour on it next summer.

She's right. That's a damn fine looking bike.

Took her for an MOT today. Straight through, no advisories.



Time to swap the plate back and remove the baffles now.

you missed some of the best roads in Oxfordshire!

Next time try: Stokenchurch -> Postcombe - (B4012) > Thame -> Long-Crendon -(B4011)> Bicester -> find the B4100 to Cherwell valley and hit the A43 there.

So the last two rides the headlight and dash back light have flicked on and off occasionally. A quick Google points to the R/R being the likely culprit so I've just whipped the side panel off to have a look. Bleauuurgh...

I'll be picking up some replacement connectors at Kempton and splicing in some fresh wire.

I'd be at Kempton tomorrow if we weren't expecting visitors down here.... (ironically they live from not far from Kempton!)
