I had one of the previous models, a 305cc CB77 (the 250 version was the CB72), and I saw my first (indicated) 100 mph on that bike, on a deserted stretch of road at 6:30 a.m. on a lovely June morning on my way to work. I remember the CB250/350 as being quite a departure styling-wise from the CB72/77. I also remember being envious of the CB350's extra 45cc...
I also lusted after a 400/4 right up to the moment that Yamaha announced the RD350LC...

You are forgetting the CJ250T, my mates' was fuggin orrible.
Take a shit bike and remove 1 gear, 1 pipe, 1 carb and any semblance of styling to make it cheaper

Yes I had one of those (CB77) bought from money earned delivering ice-cream in the University summer break. It was fairly well worn and had had a top end rebuild to replace worn out camshafts. Poor top end lubrication was one of its faults and the other was a sloppy gearbox with unpredictable gear selection.

Sorry that's the only picture I have. The other bike is a Matchless single with engine removed after I broke the crankshaft through excessive speed on the M2.
