Is 6 watts of power enough?

I've used mine for BBQs in the garden, and also for watching movies outdoors and it's been fine for that. Also as in-car hi-fi for my old Landy, and you can't talk over the engine above about 30

I can't really imagine an indoor scenario that it wouldn't be loud enough for, but as I say, mine's MIA so can't test.

I'm sure two would be ample for pretty much anything unless you really wanted to rock out to very loud music.

If you are happy to up your budget, I'd highly recommend one of the Audio Pro range - sound is amazing. Think they start at around £160....

I think from memory we did a BT speaker sound-off between my little Anker one and a bigger JBL one awhile back when camping. The JBL one was much bassier, which is kind of their thing I think. Was a bit much for my tastes, but if that's important then bigger is always going to be better. I think the consensus was that the JBL sounded bigger/better, but the Anker was better value and not far off in sound despite being half the size/cost.

Just seen there's a new range of Anker Soundcore 'Boom' speakers that sit above my little one. Seem a bit more targeted at the JBL customers and a bit more 'big party sound' with some quite cool features like self-righting and floating in water to be played in pools. Which obviously would only be relevant in your man shed after a significant plumbing issue. Edit: Also just noticed you mentioned these in your original post so know about them

TBH, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them these days, and especially the bigger brands like JBL and Anker. Just pick the features you want and budget.

I've had the old version of this for years and it's fantastic. Sound quality for the size is superb, it's waterproof, robust and battery lasts forever.

This new version has USB-C and can be set up in a stereo pair if you have two. At 30 quid a pop they're a bargain, and for your 100 you could set up two that'll be a lot better than any single unit.

Mine has sadly gone missing recently but I'm secretly glad cos I get to buy the new one (or 2)

I've got one of those but it's not hi-fi quality...

Just had to reconnect to my LG Xboom. Even though nothing else has been connected since I last used it. It was a two menus, three minute pain.

I would avoid LG. Although it might just be my incompetence. I'm tempted to get a couple of those Anker ones instead.

I have one and based on the amount of time my wife tells me to 'turn that bloody thing down' the answer is yes. Love the idea that the new model can be paired with another for stereo.

Background music for the shed. TV soundbar. I have one in my attic for when working up there and another on my camperbus that i use as the main d stereo when driving. Sound is lot better than it should be for a £40 unit. I am sure my cheap one is 50w total.

For the garage I jack into a computer 2.1 system, sounds great.
For bluetooth garden foolery I've got an Xphere which I'd recommend all day every day, but you can't get them in this country.

Interesting. I mean, they're only little things so never gonna compete with a hi-fi, but I've always been very impressed with mine.

Out of interest, did you get the newer one or the older one? They look very similar but the new one has USB-C and the stereo pairing option.

Either way though, only you can decide if they're good enough

I have the Bose Soundlink Flex and it's pretty good, decent volume and sound quality, pretty reasonable bass when on a hard surface, waterproof, two can be paired to make it Stereo, £109 from Bose. I'd recommend it.

When I bought mine years ago they were waterproof but would, with some irony, sink. Their website says they now float. The batteries are shite (maybe improved) but I still use mine now plugged in. Another vote for these. They sound better than many of these things and are bomb proof. I've had ours for years and now it lives in the garage. I've lost count the number of times its been dropped on the concrete floor and it just keeps working. Our girls have had them too for a few years at uni and no complaints.
