Oh, while I remember, I use a Netgear Wifi Analytics app (it was free and advert free, may have changed) to check signal strengths and best channels etc. It was useful positioning the router and checking the signal from the booster etc.

I have many of the things - they worked well in Switzerland , where wiring seemed to be done in a logical fashion. They worked okay in my house in MK - to a degree.
They are absolutely useless in my current house - perhaps because the wiring might be a bit creative, hence I use a TP Link Deco system

TPlink AV1300 powerlines installed, with an AV1000 WiFi plug too, increasing coverage to the garden.

Plugged in, pairing buttons pressed, working. H surprised but pleased. Filly grateful (so far).

One thing I find irritating about the TP link systems is that once the Powerline plugs are integrated into the network, they completely 'disappear' from the network, you can't see them on any network analysis software (another way to put it would be that they're completely transparent), so it's impossible to tell if they're working well (ie providing a decent signal, or receiving the network traffic from the router correctly), or not.

We have 2, in different parts of the house, and sometimes the wif-fi seems weak, but it's impossible to tell if it's the powerline wifi sub-network playing up, or the router itself playing up, or the 4G signal playing up. Well - not without a lot of faffing about doing basic things like simply unplugging the powerlines*, which is like using a hammer for adjusting tappets.



* Something I'm loathe to do because 2 times out of 3 they then seem to drop the connection and have to be re-paired with the 'primary', which is a ballache.

I only added one with WiFi, the others are all out to ethernet cables. WiFi (from the hub, is still there if required.

The main issue is that there's no way to monitor the quality of the connection between the plugs.

Mine has an audible warning should that be a problem.

It's a sort of anguished wailing from the front bedroom, particularly if Filly is mid-way through presenting a group training course when the connection drops out.
