Tempted...tempted. Doing it on a Monday is a bit of a hassle, but then again it's only 15-20 mins from here![]()

p.s. Bedford has a rather 'unique' garage system.
Silverstone has ones the size of aircraft hangers.

Last time I did a trackday at Silverstone (as a car passenger) it was just after the British Grand Prix and they still had the Red Bull stickers on the garage floors.
However the best thing I've done there was Run Silverstone 2019 - 5k and 10k runs on the track. I took Baby D in her buggy, it's the easiest buggy run I've ever done

Cars have to park half mile away. No vehicles in pits area.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 1:36 pmAre they like Cadwell garages?weeksy wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 12:00 pm p.s. Bedford has a rather 'unique' garage system.

Bedford isn't a race track technically - it's a test facility. No barriers, no spectators, no pits. I think that's why it's cheap and of course why they don't race there.

So you arrive in the morning, put your bike down in the pits, then drive your van back to the other area and walk back down.Yorick wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 1:38 pmCars have to park half mile away. Can you park your track bike near your car in between sessions?Yorick wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 1:38 pmCars have to park half mile away. It's more of a corporate play day circuit, than race jobby.

No. The pit area is inside the track. Car park outside.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 1:46 pmCan you park your track bike near your car in between sessions?

Do what everybody does. Take a chair and sit in the pit garages.

Ah I read that ^^^ all as saying there were no garages and you're stood around in what is essentially a carpark.Yorick wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 2:28 pmDo what everybody does. Take a chair and sit in the pit garages.
But yes...chair works in that case

Just same as normal track. Garages and pit lane. Just no parking behind.

Re: Silverstone Black Friday deals for 2021
Did a car trackday there many years ago and from memory spent the entire day in the pits apart from going out at lunch to get another tank of fuel as we burned the first one in the morning sessions. Good track to play in a car but strict as fuck on noise limits with loads of cars being pulled (It was an Impreza owners day so you can guess the pipes on most cars) on the fly by noise meter. That was till they figured out where it was and eased off at that point then the track blokes took out a mobile one to keep changing place

Re: Silverstone Black Friday deals for 2021
First one is up on Monday... Sadly it seems the weather may not play ball and it could end up being an expensive day drinking coffee. But with a bit of luck we'll get some decent weather for a chunk of the day.
I've got the GoPro ready as i wouldn't mind some footage on the XSR900, but will also chuck it on the ZX6R for a bit too.
Plenty of others going from here, but depends on Silverstones grouping and policies as to whether we all end up in the same garage/area at the same time. We'll be doing our best though.

Not sure whether we'd get in, but it's just up the road from me these days so if weather is reasonable, might take a little trip out on the Multi and try and blag our way in as helpers.
Whatever way, hope you both have a decent day
