Skub wrote: Sat Feb 19, 2022 1:29 pm Great bits of kit. I never use my paddock stands now. The front lift works well enough when you get the bike up,but the actual process of pushing down on the rear while tightening the strap can be a bit of a faff. I probably don't do it often enough.

Learn from this guy's mistakes and don't overtighten the swinger mounts.

^^^That's the video I mentioned up there^^^
It was good of him to post it

Can I borrow it then? Could you drop it off tomorrow morning?
I'll drop it off in the morning . Hope it's not cold over there ?
Few clouds in the Sky at Canvey island at the moment, but still lovely and warm...

One of the things I noticed on the lift over the stand is the right hand support has a hex socket screw as well as the hand screw.

Makes getting at the back of the ZH2 much easier and safer than using the paddock stand. Its a big heavy bike and I'm a scrawny runt.

If you want to do some bigger jobs then the skylift is worth its weight. I couldn't see the point of the stand over paddock stands but if you're not confident with paddock stands then it looks more stable.

I'd use those for the amount of time needed. They can slip though.

OK not a stand but I have the Abba Skylift. It is a great bit of kit, will lift front or rear of bike or raise both ends equally and makes working on the underside of the bike a doddle. Downside is that it takes up more space than the stands and is more expensive. However, definitely worthwhile if you have any back problems.

I've got one i bought when i had Mad Liz's 955i. Tbh I'd completely forgotten about it until i cleared my stuff from the old garage.

Anyone want it? They never made fittings for the 1150 BMWs, and i doubt they'll make fittings for a Featherbed frame, so it's not much use to me tbh.

Check out the swingarm removal kit.

It mounts the ABBA fittings on a footpeg hanger bolt. I'm gonna try it on my KRS at some point.

Fitting kits are just mild steel. If you have access to a lathe, it's only a few minutes work to turn most of them up. One or two, like those for a Multistrada are a bit more complicated.

I've finally used my abbastand and I'm quit impressed at how much more accessible it makes the bike over a paddock stand. Thinking of adding the front wheel lift, as it looks like a good accessory for it. Anyone got one? Happy with it?

Mine means I can change the oil without taking bodywork off - also easier to use to use on your own
