Agree, do not want sprung slats.

We bought an Emma, back in August. There are various discounts available, IIRC we got 30% as Filly is in one of the professions that they support (sic).

It's fine, post-op I was able to sleep comfortably even without a pillow, it adapted so well. Definitely more comfortable than the previous pocket sprung, with goose / down topper.

We turn it (rotate) occasionally, but not flip, as it's layered and has a 'top' layer.

As long as I get to sleep before the missus starts snoring I can sleep on anything.

But if I did have a recommendation it would be the best matress I'd every come across.

FWIW they're a Which? Best Buy.

I did the research, decided which was best for me, went to a bed / mattress shop and lay on it... it wasn't all that.

I tried loads in the shop, found one which felt perfect and bought it.

Pocket sprung, no foam or topper bollocks, extra firm, under a bag from memory.

I paid twenty quid extra for the delivery to be to the bedroom and seeing the two guys sweating getting it up to the top floor I was glad I did.

We got an Emma mattress recently. First thought was we got the wrong one as it's too thin and makes the bed a lot lower? Sit on the bed and you almost crush the mattress to the slats. But, lay on the bed and it's very supportive, weirdly so?? Took a bit of getting used to as I didn't think its was doing anything, but then you realise its sort of filled in any gaps and supports you totally? The best bit is I don't get the pressure points I was with my Sealy pocket sprung, so I'm a convert without a shadow of a doubt. I used to wake up through discomfort but I don't anymore. I now just lay there awake and feeling cosseted, where as with my old mattress waking up, meant getting up! That said, I'd still rather it was thicker and will see if they do a thicker one and if so, this one can go into the spare room.

We went to dreams, they have a techy bed thing you lie on and it measures you (and your Mrs) and recommends the best mattresses for you. Seemed honest as well because it didn't just recommend the expensive ones.

We got a Hyde and Sleep raspberry; multi spring doodah with memory foam topper... Both sleeping much better and my back issues have reduced significantly.

I think our Emma Mattresses memory foam has got dementia! The two areas where we sleep forget to go back to normal, well at least compared to the middle bit that doesn't get laid on? Maybe we're too heavy for the thin 150mm version, so I've just ordered a 250mm medium firm variant!

A long while back I was persuaded by the missus to buy a Tempur memory-foam mattress at HUGE expense. It has been OK (we have had it for about 7 years now) but it was (and still is) eye-wateringly expensive. It may even be the best in the world, but I am still not convinced it was worth that much.

Well, I'm sure they could well be the only mattress company approved by NASA, but come on now, you'd have to be putting in some real effort to make a mattress which is uncomfortable in zero G. I imagine NASA actually approve it 'cause it's light, has good fire properties or something like that.

Hmm, kinda worrying! But I don't have any hip problems since switching from a pocket sprung to one of these. I'll see how it goes...

About 25 years ago, on discovering the wife was asthmatic, we bought a very expensive latex low allergy mattress. It was bloody horrible. They insulate and become like a thermonuclear device ! The next 15 years were spent completely soaked in sweat in the summer. Dreadful thing.
When it went, I was able to sleep normally again !

We bought a Nectar mattress at huge expense around 18 months ago, we bought a replacement mattress a couple of weeks ago due to the sagging where we sleep and the huge hump in the middle. It is being repurposed onto a spare bed.

We’ve said never again to a mattress that turns up squeezed into a box, the replacement is sprung with a pillow top.

Modern memory foam mattresses will have some sort ventilation built-in.

We bought an Emma (expensive? Never buy one full price, they usually have discounts of some sort, ours was 35% or 40% off) 18 months ago, wouldn't want to go back to springs.

Odd, I bought a latex matress about 15 years ago because I wanted a cool matress and memory foam was known for being warm. Maybe the allergy stuff in yours stopped air circulating. I wouln't be without it now, the only problem I've had is moving it as it weighs about 60kg.

Got a Tempur a few years ago, it wasn't cheap but there are more expensive traditional mattresses around. Don't like it. Wife does. It will stay compressed in places eg hip area after a while but recovers somewhat if given long enough ie 2 weeks holiday but then seems to compact faster. ie they lose resilience. Traditional next time and hang the expense.(probably not Harrison Spinks at £5k though ).

Have had Dunlopillo (latex) previously and preferred to memory foam but they compress too. (Not cheap either cf memory foam).
