In real life I wouldn't go out wearing a yellow blazer, unless it was necessary to prevent me being run down. I don't need to shout how fun I am with my needy outfits like Lenny Henry or Graham Norton. I had a TL-S in BRG once, and a Monster in Silver. Cooo-eee!

It does seem peculiar to bikes, you see so so few lairy paintjobs on cars, it must be a tiny tiny percentage. Maybe us bikers are just dickheads?

I'm on my 9th black car on the trot. Actually, tell a lie, one was dark grey. Was a bit bright but think I got away with it

My first two bikes were whatever I could afford, but then all black since then until my current SDGT, which was the least-orange variant. In other words, orange. Plus some dark grey for shits 'n' gigs.

I quite like KTM orange and had a few I think the colours suit the bikes. Don't think my Duke was particularly lairy colour wise


I know a lot of the sales will be dirt bikes and small cc bikes in India etc, but whilst a bit niche on road KTM sold more than Ducati and Triumph added together and then doubled and they still didn't sell as many as KTM. Read the other day they sold 375k bikes in 2022, Ducati was 60k odd and Triumph 80k odd.

In fairness, that's the least orange KTM I've seen I think.

The year after mine they made the 'less orange' version a bit more like that with more black, but wasn't an option for my model year.

My auld Speed Triple is "Lucifer Orange" and I like the colour very much. I don't like the orange KTMs though

748s have to be yellow, it's the law.

My last x amount of bikes have been black except for the Ducati, I don’t mind the other usual colours that you get with bikes, years ago I had a few Kawasaki’s and had them in green, not overly fussed tbh. I think it usually boiled down to the deal at the time, buying brand new is a different matter I suppose, I went with black purely as you don’t stand out like a donkeys dick when you’re acting the fanny on the roads.

They're actually the slowest cos they always have an extra kilo of insects crawling on them.

I may be wrong but I think the 790 / 890 Duke is the only one that's been available without any orange at all - ie. plastics / frame / wheels?

Origin of 'going pear shaped" is interesting - one suggestion is pilots attempting to fly a loop.

It's nothing a rattle can of matt black won't sort.

My KTM has a lot of darkish grey, with a slight blueness to it, which offsets the orange, and compliments it (in my eyes). Of course, if you don't like orange, it'll look gash to you, but it's not orange everything.

That's the same as my bike. I could handle the amount of orange in that (hence buying it), but would never have chosen it.

It's also why Kawasaki's bikes look horid - there's too much green on them.
