It's still high yes, but it's an incredible course with matching risks. And, TBF, that's only a little over one a year (and the Manx has more novices, so it's more likely there will be crashes) - very sad, but a risk everyone knows and is willing to take
Proper tracks have a series are actual bends, IoM is mostly very fast sweepers where the guys are flat out.
I'd dispute that. Yes, there are a lot of very high speed sections - there has to be otherwise the lap speeds wouldn't be north of 130mph. But there are a lot of slow and medium speed corners, as there would be on any public road.

I ain't seen many SLOW bit's. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Pah! That's the M1 of Cornish lanes. It only has a few wisps of grass.

Quarter Bridge, Braddan Bridge, Union Mills, Ballacraine, Ballaugh, Sulby Bridge, Ginger Hall, Parliament Square, Ramsey Hairpin, Waterworks, Gooseneck, Creg ny Baa, Signpost, Bedstead, The Nook, Governer's Bridge, Governer's Dip.

That enough?

So what's the total mileage if you add all those bits together? Some of them are not even 100 yards.

Not really catching your drift, old bean. I was simply replying to Dodgy69's remark. I'm not trying to make out that the TT is all slow wiggly stuff because it demonstrably isn't. But there are slow corners interspersed with medium and fast corners. And straights. Lots of them. Which is why the lap record is well over 130mph.

I was just asking what all those bits added together were, that's all.

Seriously? Have you ever ridden the course? Not being funny, but the only flat out is through relatively straight bits in villages and a bit of the mountain. The rest is corners of varying severity, including a handful of hairpins/90 degree turns. Even the almost flat out series of bends has some seriously interesting bits to deal with either end, so rarely flat out for long!!! Honestly, how you can possibly think it's "Mostly very fast sweepers" is incredible!!
Having difficulty with *mostly*?.. there are more flat out bits than nadgery.
Having difficulty with *have you ever ridden the course*? . . .

Just had Google. McGuiness had the throttle wide open for 30% of the lap.
So that's 70% braking or going round bends.

I've only ever ridden the course at legal speeds (ok, the mountain and in between the villages didn't have a limit but I was on a blackbird and not very experienced!) and there is no way on this earth that there are loads of fast sweepers on that course. There are twisty (to us) sections that they make as straight as possible and ride faster than we could imagine! (Of course, it helps that they don't have to stick to one side of the white line  )

The difference is that these guys are missing a bit of brain connexion and do the turns close to flat out where normal people can't!! It's blooming awesome to ride the course as a 'normal' (relatively) person and then watch the freaking amazing loons go out and be heroes :bblonde: :bblonde:

In the 80s when the only speedtrap was at Kirk Michael we did quite a few laps as fast as we could go on road bikes ( not very ! ) it really is a *lot* less straight than it looks on TV even on an old bike.

I've driven a road car around most of the Grand Tour 'Eboladrome', at up to 30mph

Seeing the videos from the shows ... Wow ...

PS top marks for using 'connexion' in a post :)

Some might be surprised how fast they are actually going on some of those sections mentioned. Maybe more medium's. 👍

Slow is a relative term. Top racers go through the above sections way faster than you or I would dream of, but compared to the speeds they hit elsewhere on the course they are all slow, and many require heavy braking from high speeds on the approach. All of those corners are at least 90 degree/right angle turns (or very close) and 3 of them are hairpins and sub 30mph corners.
