WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?
The most emotional prize pick up ever from the strongest lady I’ve ever met.
You may have seen this story on social media and various news sites.
A local young family from Torquay whose live’s have been turned upside down by a freak accident whilst on holiday.
David Hayes, wife Elly and their two children were on holiday creating memories before Elly started treatment for breast cancer.
Whilst playing with his kids, David dived into the sea and horrifically ended up breaking his spine.
Quick thinking from his children saved him from drowning and he was rushed to hospital where he spent 3 weeks in an induced coma in a Spanish hospital.
David broke the C5 vertebrae in his neck, damaging the C4-C6 section of his spinal cord leading to instant paralysis.
The water inhalation from being face down in the sea, unable to move, led to pneumonia and a collapsed lung further complicating an already horrendous situation.
David has now been diagnosed as quadriplegic, meaning he is permanently paralysed from the chest down and has no use of his limbs.
A young and fit 42 year old man’s life, changed in an instant whilst enjoying quality time with his family ahead of his young wife’s cancer treatment.
Having played Rev Comps in the past, Elly contacted us asking if we could buy their car, a 2006 Porsche 911, which was David and his son’s pride and joy. The funds from the sale going towards the spiralling costs from this freak accident.
After hearing the story and seeing everything this family has been through, are going through and will continue to go through for the future … we decided that just buying their car to alleviate some pressure wasn’t enough.
David will require 24-hour medical care and rehabilitation for the rest of his life.
Adaptations to their home is only partly subsidised by the government and the rest will need to be self funded, which they are doing so through a Go Fund Me and selling possessions.
I went with Ron to pick up their Porsche.
Elly met us with their son Harley and was on FaceTime to David as we arrived, he’s currently in Salisbury at the specialist spinal injury centre.
David was in good spirits on the call, we joked around as we usually do trying to keep the situation as light as possible but when he said thank you for helping them … he started to lose it, myself and Ron both started crying and Elly was in bits.
I cried pretty much all the way home, could hardly get the words out telling my wife how it went.
I cry at most things, happy endings of Disney films get me every time … but the reality of this situation really hit hard how life can change in an instant and flip upside down.
Meeting Elly was inspiring. She’s undergoing cancer treatment alongside caring for their children, long drive’s to visit David in Salisbury, running their business and taking on an overwhelming volume of administrative tasks (that come with these circumstances) all whilst adjusting herself and kids to their new normal.
So here’s what we’re doing:
You can win this 2006 Porsche 911 + £1000 OR £20,000
£2 to enter
All funds raised from this competition will go to the Go Fund Me for David and family.
Money will be used for adaptations to their home, life long rehabilitation, 24 hour care and more.
Nothing will be deducted from the funds, Rev Comps will cover all card fees, delivery costs etc.
You’ve got a chance to win a nice car OR a bank full of money.
And your ticket/s will help this young family get back on their feet after this cruel, unexpected, accident has transformed their lives in an instant … on what was meant to be an enjoyable family holiday before Elly’s cancer treatment started.
Just writing that sentence …. It hit’s home how fragile life is.
Enjoy life to the full Rev Heads! You never know what’s around the corner.

So this prize isn't an option then?T&Cs wrote:All monetary prizes will only be paid directly into the verified personal bank account of the named winner. Under no circumstances will winnings be transferred to any third party or associate’s account, regardless of relationship or consent.
