Our Thunderbird has a 3.9-litre V8, paired with an automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive. This car has a traceable story for large parts of its life, and this could easily be a comfortable and enjoyable daily drive for the lucky winner of this competition.

A 2012 Maserati is going to throw up a few maintenance bills.
I’d run a mile even if they gave it me for free.

I would have had one (egged on by my Mrs!) as a company car...but it wasn't an option on the list.

There was nothing very compelling on the list at all but one colleague bought a s/h 911 and took the car allowance cash as a servicing fund (he had the car serviced by a Porsche main dealer so he probably had to top up the fund ). He eventually quit due to stress and trained to be a professional French polisher...and was very happy...but I suspect the Porker mutated into a Transit ).

My mate has a company Maserati, it was his dream car and he’s the CEO for a royal family members private businesses so he’s had Maseratis for a few years now. When I meet him for coffee he’s usually not in it because it’s being repaired.

I thought the current Stellantis cars were supposed to have got some of the reliability issues sorted (but also made the offerings a tad unexeceptional at the same time).

They've had periods where their output has been downright ugly too. I guess the magic is in the name and it lingers on from the days of Fangio but there have been a few v desirable ones on the, rather rocky, journey.

I guess it may be a bit like 'never meet your heroes' - owning a Maserati would kill the desire. Winning one would be the cheapest way of finding out!
