I was sitting just behind him when the chainguard lost a screw and mangled itself on the chain and we may have been..er...making progress. That was it's first run out too!

Probably best to ride like a granny first time out after bolting everything back together.Skub wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2024 8:55 pmI was sitting just behind him when the chainguard lost a screw and mangled itself on the chain and we may have been..er...making progress. I bet he rode home easy, since he had the munched, sharp remains of the chainguard stuffed up his jacket and resting conveniently against his jugular...and..Count Steer wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2024 8:58 pm Probably best to ride like a granny first time out after bolting everything back together.![]()
..he was heading for a pint to steady his nerves.

I recall the road from Helmsdale to Wick being a cracker.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Just remembered that on my ride I passed a bloke coming the opposite way on a 916/996/998 whatever it was. This was at about 7.45 near the Rodings. It looked, sounded and smelt proper. I noted especially the smell as it made me realise they really are a classic bike now! I'd not seen one in ages.
Then at about 11 I was passing pretty much the exact same spot in the opposite direction and passed him again! Looked, sounded and smelt just as good and unusual to pass someone in the same spot twice in the same ride especially not on a 916.
I got home and wondered if he thought. 'Wow, passed a GSXS twice today'

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Seeing as it's actually stopped raining for most of the day one of my mate's & me decided to go to the local bike meet. The last one I attended was Boxing Day,it gets a bit to busy for me & tonight was no exception, but I needed to get out on the bike.I took the Street Triple,it's been gathering dust for a few weeks..
Here's some of the more unusual bikes there
I dig the horn & 'proper old school' tail light

That's a couple of Sunbeams,a KH500 & some heavy metal from Honda

Seems a bit odd to be riding that Sunbeam in a white Schuberth flippy-front helmet. Should be a 'Corker' really.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Was out and about today picking up my jacket from the repairers, (Hill4Leather, they seem to have done a very good job!)
On the way home i dropped into Bahnstormer in Alton, nearly dropped the bike when i rolled over some gravel at West Meon at about 15 mph, then after a very slow cruise along the 272 i stopped in at South Down motorcycles to peruse the stock.
Nicest thing in there is an ES2.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Had a shakedown ride on the SV650 with the new Top Yoke conversion. We rode around the Trough of Bowland & up to the Jubilee Tower.
Glorious day in the sunshine, the best day in absolutely ages,we were looking for shade

We had a good chat with the owner of this Z900,he's owned it for 3 years,he's very happy with it.

This XJ550 brought back fond memories,I owned a 'Mars bar' colour scheme XJ550 from new back in 1981,the owner says it's now on 91000 miles & he's determined to get it to roll over 100000 miles. He reports no failures so far.

Happy to report no major concerns with the handlebar conversion, just needs some minor tweaking
The Summer riding gear could do with an upgrade...
