Thanks.

If you are interested, I read a book "First Light" by Geoffrey Wellum that give incredible detail of those days. He joined the RAF, from a public school, at 17 and was more or less burned out by 21. The detail is amazing, I remember the almost absurd instructions from the RAF about what he was to bring when arriving to train to be a pilot with a life expectancy of weeks, bring your "dinner jacket".
Bought it on the kindle yesterday and it kept me up late, couldn't put it down, brilliant (I'm 20% into it).
If you’ve got any interest in the Vietnam conflict, there’s a book in a similar vein called Chickenhawk, I think, about helicopter pilots in the war zone and the impact their experiences have on them.
Not everyone’s cup of tea but I’ve read and reread that too.

Read Chickenhawk earlier this year. Highly recommended. The hours of boredom, drudge work and scams broken up with moments of complete terror/idiocy/heroism/sheer futility of war.

My finger was poised to buy - but after reading the synopsis in the ridiculous times we find ourselves now I stopped. I don't think I want any more anger about the stupidity/corruption of governments right now.

Had a couple of days off work. Spent some time sorting through the camping gear and my old fishing tackle. Found out I had more stoves etc. than I knew, came across some old French bangers and realised if you leave meths in a Trangia burner for 8 years it goes manky as fuck.

Today I have collected 30m2 of Laminate from B&Q with the underlay, bought the scotias from Wickes as they are solid pine and I can paint them.

Stripped three rooms of old carpet and underlay. Took delivery of boxes for moving. Had the house valued which is a mixed pot as the shared ownership scheme has just phoned to say they don't want to sell our place anymore and we have to put it on the open market. So anything below the valued price has to come out of our pockets, so I am not impressed with them.

Had two telephone calls from scammers in India pretending to be from Sky, trying to get remote access to my laptop :)

First call I only managed to keep going for 15mins, the 2nd I got just over half an hour.

I like to think while they were tied up with me they weren't scamming someone's granny.

Prepped and primed the floor in the man cave in readiness para el pintor mañana. He's laying down a thick coat of the posh shiny floor paint he's been painting round the back of the villa

Looking good Yorick. Mats or carpet tile down for the side stand or paddock stands?

Me, I've been supporting the staff remotely. Looking foward to my last week in the "working" world and then I can log off the work laptop after deleting my profile and handing it over!

Fetching daugther from her socially distanced outing with a friend later on today and then probably going to bed early.

I did not paint today. What a relief!

I've made some square metal pads with old yoga mats glued to bottom.

I took loads of pics in different lights, but none grabbed the amazing brightness. The camera could not cope. When I wheeled all the bikes back in, they obviously made tyre marks which spoiled it as before. But I did a weeksy and got the mop out. All the marks were gone. Whereas before, they just got worse and worse as the pics above shows. He's been here for a week painting this shiny stuff everywhere, so for €200 extra, he did the man cave as well :)

Today I got up early, prepared to do stuff for service at 10am. Managed to get time to read the lease agreement on my gaff and found selling it on open market means the new owner automatically gets full Freehold if full price paid. So that takes some pressure off selling with only 75 years on the lease. LQ group only want money spinning flats where they get communal charges thrown in as well as the usual rent charges.

I'm off to get an eye check up (family history of glaucoma) and new glasses. I'm off the company scheme to claim from Bupa at the end of the month, so I may as well get this sorted now, besides I'm 10 months overdue for a checkup.

Then back to the "new home" to clean up and remove boxes from the room to the laminate flooring can be laid during the week. All in all a busy little time for me, but good in the sense that things are happening!

Also finished up assigment this morning and will submit it later today once I've had the chance to read it through again.

Found someone wanting to 'race' on one of my fav bits of road...

I stuck with them, couldn't get past, until they gave up and pulled into a layby. They were proper giving it some!

Moto Guzzi V7 1 - Audi A3 Diesel 0.

Boo yah!

I overtook a ZX9 and a Chunderacer too, on the old A1 at Ferrybridge!

I even managed to hit an indicated 100mph, but it took fucking ages on a very very long (private) road.

Up at 5 to walk the dog, then get dressed and drive to Belfast as my depot shuts on Sunday, on the bus for 7, Finish just after 3. Steak and chips for tea, and just ready for bed.
