They're odd looking bikes but the owners seem to like them despite the looks.

Winter sun....is a pain! but great to get out, mostly dry, some debris on roads after storm.

A nice day for February & the Street Triple got SORN'd the other day so I was out on my SV650S,good fun on the back roads around here

I called in at my mates garage for a social & checked out the RD250LC he bought recently.I'm booked in for a ride on it when the weather picks up,roll on Summer

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Although it's been dry and sunny the past week,I haven't been out for a while due to the council and their Gary Gritter machine. It's starting to eat me now and I need a fix,so I dragged both the triples out and fired them up. I took them around the couple of miles of clean roads close by,just to get them warmed up,as I don't like garage starts if I can avoid them. Didn't even need a helmet. Us webels wock, though my nose was cold and my eyes watered.

Took Corporal Fazer out to get tyres, started ok even if I have lost the ability to use a manual choke! Got some fresh fuel down it and it's running like a swiss watch helped by a pair of nice new Road 6's meaning it actually turns now.
Wanted to try it back to back with the K12 but the bloody immobilizer had drained the battery so got the GS out for some backroads fun instead.

When you get a minute, can you tell me the differences in the bikes regarding soundtrack, if any and performance. I know one's bigger than tuther, but real world and all that.

They're both 500ccs, as far as I know. Different model years but same capacity.Dodgy69 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 8:48 pmSkub wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 4:50 pm Although it's been dry and sunny the past week,I haven't been out for a while due to the council and their Gary Gritter machine. Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
There's little difference at all in the sound they make, both are 500 triples separated by one year. 1971 H1A (blue) and 1972 H1B (orange) The B is a little quieter.Dodgy69 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 8:48 pm When you get a minute, can you tell me the differences in the bikes regarding soundtrack, if any and performance. Oddly the H1B physically feels like a bigger bike,I don't know why this is,since they both share the same engine, frame and many other parts.
On the the H1B Kawasaki fitted a 'snorkel' to the airbox and lowered the main jets from 100 to 95 supposedly to quieten intake noise. There's little difference in performance, but there is a difference in how they feel. Hard to quantify. The H1A is like an old pair of comfy slippers, whereas the H1B is....maybe still not broken in to my foot shape,to use the slipper analogy? I dunno really. Could be just mileage. The B is still fairly fresh from rebuilding, the A is well loose.
The B front disc brake is a little better than the drum on the A,but you'd best plan ahead for both. Rear brake is very necessary.
The A still runs the 54 year old Mitsubishi CDI,the B has had it's original points ignition changed to Accent. Both start first kick when warm and after 2 or 3 from cold.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
First time out on GasGas for 3 months. Lots of pain in shoulders and wrists, but the big grin suppressed it. Extra painkillers helped
Managed 2 hours with the missus. Gentle ride as she's still a novice and speed was perfect for me.
But last 10 mins I came home on a fun route where I could enjoy the bike.
Gonna be out on it a lot in the near future. I ache like buggery as using wasted muscles. But no pain as such

Managed 2 hours enduro today. Faster than 2 days ago but still a way to go yet.
Big smiles here and aching arms

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Got some friends down from Czechia, so we have been riding around Andalucia.
Yesterday I took them over to the "Spanish Stelvio" (Alto de Velefique) which was just as superb as always. Lovely weather, just a bit of snow up at the top.
No traffic at all, but some deer very near the top Last day riding today before we go our seperate ways tomorrow
