It's only a matter of time before the seed grows during the loooong Winter.
That goes without saying matey... i just like 'different' things at times. I really should just go and take one out for an hour as a Demo ride, i'm sure that would put me right and move me away from the idea
Nah, just buy it! I have to say you don't seem to be waxing very lyrical at all about it. Its like you've scratched the SMC itch but are a bit disappointed with it? You normally have lot more to say about your bikes?

Nah, it's just where I am in life matey, I don't think much would change irrespective of what bike. But I've still only done 550 miles on it. However as I ride it, it becomes more natural to ride and more 'me' but the fact is, I'm less a biker than I was in the past and even then a fair few rides were commuting on the back lanes. But I dont commute now of course
The thing in the past has been 'upgrading' too, but the smcr doesn't lend itself to that as it doesn't need upgrading at all, it's exactly a perfect example of a road biased supermoto.
As much as I'd love a 1290 for some reasons, for many others I'd arguably hate it too. I think I'd end up getting frustrated at only needing 3 gears for a start.

For some, it's hard to be 'one bike happy'. I'm like that. Ideally you need 3/4 bikes of different styles. Some day's I just fancy riding something different, sporty, adventure, whatever. Being 100% happy with one bike ownership doesn't work for everyone.

Yeah i think that's close... but for me it's just 1 long-term, rather than not 1.... I can't see myself owning loads. But i really do struggle with keeping bikes longer term. Riding it yesterday i was pretty gutted i'd not taken it to PEmbrey now as much as i've been there done that... it would've been a laugh for sure. I'm sure it'll be staying longer yet... But as my reply earlier, there's only so much you can do in terms of upgrading some bikes.

Well at least it's only bikes you're like that about. I know some blokes like that with women which is a lot more expensive/problematic!!
As for the SD1290 they are a thing for sure but I doubt it'll float your boat riding wise for long, but hey what's life for

You need a classic superbike to fiddle with, just don't ride the crappy thing.

Interests me very little... I don't buy bikes to tinker... in an ideal world i'd love a nice old school Ducati/MV to play with and get working, then maintaining, but not at the expense of the space required or if it were to replace my day-to-day bike.

Hypermotard? Bit bigger/more substantial than the 690 but not silly fast or heavy?

It only bloody rained !!!!
I was having an awesome ride and before i could do much about it, we were into and past the point of no return... wetness and i'm guessing dirt !!!
It's just in the garage cooling now before it'll get a wash afterwards once engine is cooled.
Just for a last bit... i do really love the SMC-R and i honestly think i've got some sort of a problem... rather than the bike being the issue

It's all the wife's fault. She should buy you a new bike to make up for that one getting wet.

I think you are right, in a nice way, whatever the bike you'll want something different soon after without it being the bikes fault so to speak. Nothing wrong with it, other than it'd drive me nuts as I hate buying things!

Well it's getting there, but meeting now... Just needs the engine guard fitting and the front wheel/brakes cleaning and it'll be golden...
Reading @Scud thread makes me realise that doing this, cleaning MTBs, spannering both... that's one of my main happy places... Sure out on the trails and the KTM is also... but the spannering/cleaning, really does give me satisfaction.
