The gritters were out here last night,so that's game over, bar the days when rain washes away the salt and the roads dry.
The weather has been generally great this year, can't complain at all.

SV7, although it'd be a bit of a busman's holiday and probably less peppy given the extra weight before we mention the extra money.Bustaspoke wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 7:02 pm I called in at the local Suzuki dealers to have a look at some of the 800 Ptwin variants,I really like the looks of the GSX8TT & the GSXR 8 seems decent but apart from the 800 Vstrom all the variants seem to have the same shortened rear end & tiny pillion seats,so Pstrom apart I'm not sure how you're supposed to fit a load of camping gear on there.I think I'll be sticking with the SV's.

I'll probably demo one next year.I'm sure I'd have bought one if it was on sale a couple of years ago. With my SV650X I'm debating working out how to fit a 3/4 fairing as I know the Gen 3's get raced so people make fairing mounts for them.Supermofo wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2025 10:40 amSV7, although it'd be a bit of a busman's holiday and probably less peppy given the extra weight before we mention the extra money.Bustaspoke wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 7:02 pm I called in at the local Suzuki dealers to have a look at some of the 800 Ptwin variants,I really like the looks of the GSX8TT & the GSXR 8 seems decent but apart from the 800 Vstrom all the variants seem to have the same shortened rear end & tiny pillion seats,so Pstrom apart I'm not sure how you're supposed to fit a load of camping gear on there.I think I'll be sticking with the SV's.

What I like about the SV650S is it's light weight, bigger tank, twin headlights & 3/4 fairing. My SV650X will never be as light but I'd like to do something similar with it & use it for some Euro tours as it's only done 3,000 miles & it's still under warranty until 2029 The 650S is a K8 so it's 17 years old now & great fun on the local back roads but the occasional small niggles mean I'm a bit wary of going around the EU on it.
I don't understand why Suzuki haven't made a GSX8GX touring tall rounder,no doubt they'll announce one when I've sorted out what I'm doing with my 650

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Well, I think that's it
Just been out to brim with fresh E5 for winter storage. Stayed local for 15 miles or so and mainly on smaller roads, even Ware High St as high speed on the A414 was farkin tatters. Was trying to get down to 1 bar of fuel but gave up as it was a bit too bloody nippy for jeans and a light jumper under my textile jacket. Still enjoyed riding the bike but yeah, it's cold. Got near 13 litres of E5 Esso super in so best I can do.
As I rode back from Herford the signs were showing gritting from 7pm
So that's that I think until the salt disappears. Need to give the bike a bloody good wash before she goes to bed properly.

I remember maxing out my first GSXR1000 along the lakeside road one day. Slowed down for a corner and saw a copy with speed gun.cvilla wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 9:26 am Ullswater on a nice morning, a few places to stop for a pic:)

Had a nice ride out with three of my mates earlier. We met up at 12.30 as it was still icy mid morning..
Winter clothing was required.

You get a lot of walkers here, doing the 'War horse walk'.According to the memorial, back in WWI 330,000 horses & mules went through here on their way to the front

The bikes got a bit of salt on them but they're not show ponies, just need a bit of a clean now.

Had a great day out on the lanes of Wiltshire and Oxfordshire with some of the TRF Oxford lot yesterday, pretty muddy and very slippy in places which is great fun- I really ought to make the effort to go over this way more often, this route had hardly any road work, and really brilliant , and very long lanes

Gagging for it today. A small window of opportunity was duly utilised.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Diego plans a route most Thursdays and posts it on the WhatsApp group, depart the petrol station at 9am. Today it was just Diego and me, it was fucking freezing. We got to the cafe about 11am and spent an hour sitting in front of their log fire, it was 5⁰ outside. I'm thinking about buying some sort of action cam thing, the scenery is truly lovely. Have a below average pic of two bikes outside a cafe.

Heated gear was well welcome today. Gotta love dry and non salty roads.
