2nd hand 2022 ish cars with under 30k on the clock seem it be around £22k, if you don't want a dual motor, which seems good value.

There are two 2022-23 era cars parked on my street, a white one and a dark blue one. Neither are charged on the driveway/at home, yet the owners clearly manage somehow.

I really dislike the cheap looking sticker down by the front wheels. Looks like the thing Max Power drivers used to do, putting loads of brand name stickers up the door

Was looking at Teslas the other week.It seemed the less featured models were the single motor ones, and the long range ones were all dual motors too, but, tbf, I didnt look into them that much?

If I ever gte round to selling my car, i'm still torn whether to replace it or not and if I do whether top go for a powerful-ish car with sports exhaust etc, or the smooth, silent luxury of some sort of EV?

Long range EVs are almost always the fast, multi motor, ones too.

Because of the way batteries work adding storage capacity also adds power. It'd be like having fuel tanks where the size of the hose coming out of it is set by how many litres it can hold.

If you fit a large capacity battery you get a lot of electrical power "for free". Since it doens't cost that much to fit bigger, more powerful motors, that's what OEMs do.

It's as much to do with the general consumer expectation that more expensive = faster as anything else.

Nothing to really report, Get in, Drive. Plug it in when it's on the drive overnight.

I am seeing the range go up and the consumption go down as the weather warms up.

Couple of really neat features; being able to turn the climate control on via the app on a frosty morning is nice.

I've used a charger away from home 3 times now. Each time was painless (apart from the cost difference of charging at home).

Some of the driving assistance is very intrusive which can be irritation, but that's not just an EV issue.

Range anxiety is less of a thing than it was at first. If I was doing a long journey I would still do some pre-planning regarding chargers but they are popping up everywhere and the sat nav in the car is good at telling you where they are, what KWh they are and if they are occupied or not.

So far so good, no regrets yet.

My Dad was telling me he spends nothing at all on leccy now, despite having an EV

As mentioned above, they've got Solar Panels which provides a big chunk of their juice. They've also got a power wall and they're figured out how much charge they need for a typical day (about 40%). So he fills up the car and the powerwall at 7p a unit in the night, then sells a load of the powerwall stuff back in the day at 15p/unit.

Combined with the solar, it means their only electricity bill is the standing charge. He's also done 10,000 miles in his EV at the same time.
