Elvis with his pal Gustav. His backend has completely gone, but otherwise healthy.

Cut a long story short but just before Crimbo I was walking the dog at daft O clock in the morning and spotted someone sleeping rough under a bridge. Initially I apologised for disturbing them (felt like Id walked into their bedroom) and walked past.
Thing is, its winter and thats not a good place to live during a northern winter.
Went back and spoke to em and they couldn't go into a hostel with pets.
They managed to get one dog re-homed and on the Friday before Christmas I'd poked the local council with a pointy stick and got them put up in temporary accommodation. Well as long as someone took on their other dog.
So, for a while we have unofficially fostered another dog.
He's been well looked after (if a little chubby), well trained and is quite a nice little chap. I'm not really a fan of little yappy dogs but I still like him.

Might have to get a mate to look after him as daughters French Bulldog (who spends most working days here) absolutely hates him and keeping them apart is a full time job.
It's a shame cos the newbee is far better behaved than daughters Frenchie.

Our dog just gets on with all of em, he's a bloody superstar.

Fresh cat:

It seems to like being up high, straight up the step ladder and also onto the high windowsills. It hunts and eats rodents, and is quite quiet. The latter is a change from the last one, a half Siamese that only shut up when it was asleep. It's also desperate to be outside but I'm concerned that it'll head back to it's previous home about a mile away, it has a reputation locally for roaming.

GrumbleTheDog, who never plays with toys, but was an attention seeking sod when SausageTheCat (RIP last year) was nearby...

This is a cat I was tried to befriend. It's difficult to capture the look it gives you. If I try get closer than a metre it hisses and backs off. Possibly it recognises me as the thing that trapped it and took it to the vets. It's also quite small under all that lush winter plumage.

Persistence (and regular feeding) can melt the stoniest cat heart...

So, like Tyrion Lanister I have a "Place in my heart for cripples, bastards and broken things" and have rescued this poor sod who until now has spent his entire life in a frigging cage.

Don't let the looks fool you, he's totally untrained and freaks out if he sees another dog when you walk him, but he's the smartest dog I've ever come across, he has mastered "Sit" and "down" literally overnight and although I was worried about introducing him to my girls, they have taken him under their wing, even Misty, who normally hates other dogs apart from her pack sisters and Beagle boyfriend. In fact, Misty has been like a guide for him, sitting beside him and offering kisses and wanting to play.

The only thing I don't like is his name.

Who the hell calls one of these dogs Scooby?

My parents sent me some pictures today of the cats we had when I was a kid.

I never realised they were so fat.

Almost as fat as Eddie.

He spent so much energy getting his toys out and scattering them across the living room that he had to have a little lay down afterwards.

Safely on the ferry. My heart has stopped pounding.
Foe some reason my anxiety was sky high this morning.
Worried there'd be a problem with ticket or the bike on the trailer. Or anything.
It's only 5 mins from our house so could nip home for anything.

So got here way early and they just waved me straight on. Phew.

Now a very boring 7 hours.

And the pool is empty :(
