This is the bit I REALLY hate. Ok, it's sad that people die up there and the chances of getting the bodies down are slim, but they go up knowing that it's dangerous and knowing the risk of not getting back.

But to take stuff with you that you aren't willing to carry back is shit. Especially in this day and age. I figure it's ego - people are desperate to be able to say they got to the summit and if they leave rubbish on the way up and down to lighten the load, then that's not their issue. But it's still wrong.

No one NEEDS to get to the summit of any mountain - especially not if it means leaving rubbish/equipment on the way there or back or putting other people at risk (other climbers and sherpas)

I've spent more hours there than I wanted to wearing an orange bib marshalling, no one really wanted that spot because if there is an accident then it's likely to be nasty - which proved itself in 2013 - I last marshalled at that point in 2012, then we moved abroad, the year after (2013) was a bad one

It's one of the reasons I've never spectated at that spot - yes it's spectacular but if it goes wrong then it normally goes very badly wrong. Same as bottom of Barregarrow...

What a stupid thing to do with any car, but those things are as ugly as sin as well!

According to the article the car weighs "800 pounds", so they must have taken all the engine, gearbox etc out. That'd be a very sensible thing to do with a car you're going to hang on it's side anyway.

May as well just have a sculpture of one. S'not really a car any more.

TBH I'd rather have a wall with pictures on between the lounge and the bedroom. I don't particularly want to wake up looking at the underside of a motor vehicle.

Just adds to the money and taste can be mutually exclusive idea. I imagine the bed has black satin sheets on.

Money seems to arrive in all manner of unworthy corners, and plainly many of the recipients have no clue as to what might constitute a worthwhile use for it.

But if that's someone's living room then they've definitely got no friends....
