John was in TB5 and on occasion, he was relieved by Alan. He must have been really pissed off with all his brothers getting the desert island gig and him stuck up there as billy no mates!

African Ibis, or Hadeda as it is known locally. Signature sound of early dawn and any other time of the day!

Another one I just thought of.
Grasshoppers.
I used to catch them on the fellside and if I kept quiet I could sneak up on them.
Not sure if they were the Common Green ones or the Meadow Grasshoppers.

The sound of a knife scraping burnt bits off toast.
My mum could make a mean Yorkshire pud but she couldn't grill toast without burning it to save her life. And being of the generation that lived through WW2 and rationing there was no way she was going to throw an incinerated piece of bread away.
