That's what the Tory party is for innit?

Motorbikes, Sportsbikes, Adventure bike, Supermotos, banter, chat, friends and whatever else you can imagine. KTM, Ducati, Aprilia, Suzuki, Yamaha, BMW, Moto Guzzi, Laverda

doesn't exist.. but i struggle to think how i could make people on here more miserable !chillitt wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 1:41 pm I think it's just as well weeksy did the decent thing before any of us did. The only thing that hasn't been suggested is a Miserable User Hack...![]()
Personally, I don't have a problem with division and polarisation because I see that as being a reflection of society.Nidge wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 11:56 amBut it's not moaning about non-bike stuff per se. It's more that, axiomatically, a post like the original one here will descend into division, polarisation and ultimately insults. Frankly I think we were all tired of that in the old place(s).ogri wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 11:32 am A bike forum with a index for Current Affairs / Politics / News discussion, and people in said index moaning about non bike stuff being discussed?![]()
I welcome the breadth of discussion and wouldn't want discussion to be only limited to bikes, but really did anyone not think that a thread like this would only go one way? Surely we can have a variety of discussion without provocative political/racial posts?

Unfortunately, some have 'banter' directed at them and feel insulted. Where's the point at which something becomes an insult? If it’s a technical or medical description applied accurately (for example, if the recipient actually does suffer muscle spasms, then 'you spastic' might a description rather than an insult, but is it insulting to use someone's physical appearance or restrictions in such a way?
Guessing 'Beige' is a favourite colour hereSupermofo wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 8:07 pm I appreciate Weeksy setting up this forum, and think he's got a tough job getting the line right but so far I think he's done well. I come here for the bikes, but look over the other areas. Discussion is all good, but point scoring, baiting and he said, she said quoting etc rapidly leads to 800 pages of ming mong with nothing moving on beyond page one people just become further entrenched.
I get some people love it, but I find a lot of social media raging black/white arguing. We don't have to like everyone in our community, but it'd be nice to observe some social cohesion.
I dont know what the answer is but lets try and work with Weeksy to keep it a nice place to visit. Maybe treat it like a meet for a coffee and a chat rather than one of those 10 pint discussions
It was a thread that was never going to do anything more than cause arguments. Whether that's right or wrong to allow I don't know, but let's be honest, the thread was never going to enhance the forum, it was never going to make anyone look good or improve any relationships between members.melons wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 8:26 pmGuessing 'Beige' is a favourite colour hereSupermofo wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 8:07 pm I appreciate Weeksy setting up this forum, and think he's got a tough job getting the line right but so far I think he's done well. . Yoricks (This) thread hadn't fallen into any of the fault lines that have been cited prior to Weeksy's first intervention, it was at that stage just a civilised discussion

Just noticed that Yorick has deleted his opening post on this thread whilst leaving the title & thread otherwise intact, that's a very bad forum loop hole imo. Also, fair enough, if you're going to second guess every comment or opinion on every thread and stifle debate, discussion and rob this forum of the educational excellence TRC provided with it's more liberal oversite, then it's not a place for meweeksy wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 8:33 pmIt was a thread that was never going to do anything more than cause arguments. If you don't like the way the forum is being run, go find another, I'm quite frankly getting fed up with people bitching about it
Sadly due to the way the forum deletes posts, if you do it incorrectly it leaves the rest of the topic in place, whereas on other forums it deletes the whole thread.melons wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 8:42 pmJust noticed that Yorick has deleted his opening post on this thread whilst leaving the title & thread otherwise intact, that's a very bad forum loop hole imo.
