Who doesn't

Partly the reason I was worried about sticking a bollard out there, I might come back and find him impaled on it

Starting to feel like a bloody UN negotiator now :angry-cussingblack:

See matey getting in his car this morning and he asks for a word. He says we do own that land but that's good and bad, yes we own it but we must keep it clear at all times for access. I give him a bit of a look and he says 'Don't worry I'm not gonna ask you to move your car', so hopefully I'm in the clear, but suggests he's still holding out for next door. He said you never know I might buy a small electric car and want to put it in my garage and I won't be able to do that with next doors car there. He then said do I get on with next door and have I told em that I've given them the plans. I said I do but not told them yet, I spoke to them yesterday when they knocked to give us the news about their first grandson, and I said it wasn't fair for me to raise this stuff when they have that to celebrate for the moment, but that I would do.

We then got to the nub of it I think. He said maybe next door could come over to his and they could discuss it properly over a cup of tea and sort things out, but that he wasn't being spoken too like he was the first time and wasn't backing down and if next door want to continue with this then was hinting he could create issues with the access thing and might continue parking there if there was no space in the road  :angry-cussingblack: He mentioned it wasn't legal for next door to block him in (which he has done twice) or clamp him as next door threatened and he could go legal over the access rights.

As Mango said I'm sensing classic alpha male bullshit of can't back down regardless of sense and so needs a way out. I'm going to relay this to next door and they can do what they like with it. I'm hoping next door can swallow his pride and apologise for any misunderstandings at the start and hopefully then matey will feel he can drop his shite too. But I think there's a pretty good chance they'll fuck it up as next door is another alpha male.

Anyway, I don't think there is much more I can do so if this fails, I'm gonna have to start ignoring it.

To be fair, it's what I've done since March when this started. But early doors Bank Hol Monday matey woke me up to ask me if I could move my car as next door had blocked him in. They then started arguing over my head. I'm not gonna get woken up to move cars and I'm a bit sick of the effing and jeffing round the back at full volume, especially if I'm honest as matey is on the deliberate stir as for example he didn't park there when next door went on holiday for a full 2 weeks. I'm getting a bit sick of listening to it. I've tried, but I'm out after this.

I might have misunderstood your original explanation.

I read it that
- there is a common access which must be kept clear
- he was parking off of that, so in someone else's garden

Was he actually parking in the 'access' part of their garden (is blocking his own access?

If so, he's blocking their access!

More my bad explanation. This is the access road. The grey car is my neighbours, this is where matey parks to piss off next door, next door own the bit from their back fence to the garages. Matey's garage is the green blob and he has a gate (green blob) going into his next door's garden, he then walks through that garden to his own. Another neighbour parks behind the grey car, so it's a bigger space then it looks as it easily swallows a Skoda SUV thingy. Matey doesn't seem to have a problem with this, I imagine cos that bloke is a copper

Now, in an ideal world no one would park down here at all. But the garages might fit a Hillman Imp but fuck all else. I'm the only one who has a 'Vehicle' in his garage, everyone else's is full of crap as you can't get a car in them.

This is one of several similar garage sets ups in the estate and everyone parks over their back fence like next door. Only difference being all the other set ups have access roads the full length of all the houses, ours differs in its only 4 houses long and the next 4 houses have no parking space but an extra 30ft of garden. People do this as the road is generally most full of an evening even with everyone who can parking over their back fence.

Matey doesn't seem to have an issue with parking there himself, before he knew next door owns it and he thought it was shared ownership, so the access thing is just causing trouble for troubles sake, he has a Ford Kuga it'd never fit in his garage.

If we all stop parking there the road will be even more full so matey is worse off if that happens anyway.

Parking skirmish at Chez Ming this week.

We live at the end of a cul-de-sac and our drive is on one side of the T shaped turning area, now in the limbs of the T there is enough space to park one car on each arm of the T and cars to still comfortably get in or out of their respective drives. However this week an insignia has been double parking on our side of the T, which whilst not properly blocking our drive exit onto the the close, means you have to go across a bit of the grass verge and drop down the kerb and when parking back on the drive its a royal pain in the arse to swing in avoiding the insignia.

So this morning Mrs M spots the owners and asks them to not park there for the reasons above, it transpires they are next doors daughter and SiL. Next door has a huge corner plot drive that is empty but could take 4 cars easily and also there is plenty of on street parking a few yards up the close that wouldn't incovienece anyone trying to get into or out of their drive. Cue much huffing and puffing and whinging and off they went. I get back from dropping the bike off for its service today and the insignia is now parked on the neighbours huge drive BUT with a sheet under it, I presume to capture any dropped oil which is probably why they parked on the close instead. 🤬

It's a similar story here. My house is circled at the top of the pic, my nearest neighbour at the bottom.

Some people

So this whole thing has gone away since..Check thread Aug last year!! No arguing, no parking wars all good. I said to Mrs that problem matey has seemed a bit off when I've seen him since Aug which is several times and I've said hello, exchanged pleasantries , but I thought maybe it's just me, or if he is whatever.

Then last night I spot him getting his push bike out the garage and I say hello, off for a nice cycle etc. As I go to walk away he says, 'So what do you think about out the back?'. I play dumb and ask if he means about the proposed housing estate. No, he says the parking, and I notice he's got the adrenaline shakes, FFS. He says do you own that land or are you just responsible for it? I say that to be honest it's in the deeds so my assumption is it's owned with access rights but I let him see the plan and I got it out and put it away last summer and not thought of it since. He starts up again saying, I know you didn't want to get involved but he's been looking into it about how he needs access if he wants to park in his garage (which he can't) and then drops in a thinly veiled threat about how if someone has an accident on the busted drain cover down there we'd be liable etc  Then he says so if there's nowhere to park I'm gonna park in that space even if next door block me in etc. So I said well you're gonna do what your gonna do so not sure what you want me to say. Wished him a good cycle/night and left.

What a twat. 65 years old or whatever and can't leave school level grudges behind. So I'm thinking we'll see a resumption of hostilities shortly between him and next door, I reckon as it's coming back into summer and he'll see next door a lot in passing and he can't help feeling like he's let them win. No idea if he's including me in all this now. Whatever happens I'm ignoring it now, can't be arsed with aggro people I've got better things to do with my time.
