Second caliper is off, cleaned up, but awaiting dremel doodads to clean corrosion out of the seal grooves, used my last doodad on the other caliper. New doodads will be here today. Cloudy & temps in the 70's!! (even had rain nearby) That will make the job not such a sweat soaked ballache in the garage tomorrow, or possibly later today.

Bled them this morning, I have brakes again & these ones work... Previously I was dealing with contaminated pads on the left side & two stuck pistons on the right.

Left the lever strapped to the bar overnight. It now moves about 1/2in, just like the ZRX11 lever (which has Galfer lines). Chuffed.

Ops check ok... now they both work at the same time, not the right one first & the left one about 20ft later when the fluid burns off the pads.

...which is just as well as muggins here was about to merge onto the local freeway at 120 & spotted the Chippie in the #1 lane doing about half that. Bugger.

Latest upgrade, new keyrings for the ZX11 & ZRX11 (which just rolled over 123,000 miles)

Should have called this thread *ZX11 & ZRX11 Stuff*

Swapped out one header nut....

Original 123,086 mile nut on the right, M8/12mm, spiffy looking new M8/13mm nut on the left.

I put it on the outboard #4 stud:

I can access all 8 without moving the rad etc, just takes a 6in 1/4 drive extension & a wobble socket.

I'm doing my exhaust later this week, I got a Sebring 4 into 1 for £85, the studs look ok but I'm aware it's radiator and oil cooler off to gain full access

I'm thinking of trying to get some blind(?) Nuts for the studs, something to protect the threads , I think nc30's had something like this

if you cant find closed ones, put 2 nuts on each stud so they extend past the end of the stud, topped off with a blob of coppergrease.

XS1100's had a M8 round doodad that took a 6mm Allen key in the opposite end to the thread. Been a while since I saw one, but I think they were about 15mm long.
During WWII they used silver plated nuts on the exhaust studs on P&W radials. I've removed these after 70 years & there's no corrosion.

Copper, or copper plated TopLocks would be my choice in the UK, not an issue here though.

Do NOT!! try to remove the oil lines from the oil cooler. It will end in tears.. but check the round aluminum spacer doodads where the oil lines bolt to the engine.

I was going to move the oil cooler as little as possible
Thanks for the heads up about the copper nuts

I succumbed to the shiny cooper....

Came in a bag of 12... so I can do the 8 on the ZRX & have ordered another bag for ZX11. Then I'll have a full set of 8 spares for the stash

What size are those please?

M8x1.25mm. They're actually copper plated steel, not solid copper.

I don't have any luck posting Amazon links on here for some reason, so punch "Micro Trader 12pcs Exhaust Manifold Nuts Head Stud Nut M8 Hex Copper Self Locking Car Parts" into Amazon.

Looks like I can swap the top 4 on the ZX11 without dropping the lower fairings... Original nuts are 12mm, these are 13mm

Managed to get the outer one on each side of the ZX11 without pulling the fairings so far... Pretty sure I can get the the other two upper ones, but dropped a 1/4 drive ratchet & 12mm socket getting the outer one off the right side. Luckily it ended up right by the lower hole in the fairing, that wouldn't happen if I was working on the inner nuts & dropped it.
There's just enough thread on the stud to grip the lock part of the nuts

ZRX11 got ridden today & had three heat cycles. The copper plated nuts (apparently Stainless, not regular) turned from copper colored to looking like they're made of gold.
Will be making sure they're snug tomorrow.
& also need to faff about with the shifter linkage doodads as it feels like they need a clean/lube.
