Is there something wrong with turning 60 and insuring multiple bikes, £375 last year, £775 this year with the same insurer or Devitts can find another at £600. Apparently they all have to be insured for business use but I only rarely use one of them for that purpose & get significantly less ppm than when I use the car

3 bikes in all & probably only worth £12k total, really beginning to wonder if it's worth all the costs...

I've used Bennetts for the last few years and they don't seem to follow the usual trend of sucker you in with a low initial price, then ramp it up every year. I've just had my renewal quote for a multi-bike policy (4 bikes) and it was a mere sick squid more than last year...

From what I've gathered, you live in a very gentile area.
That doesn't stop me RLAC
Riding Like A Chapel-goer?
(If gentile areas are cheap for insurance I'm not moving to Golders Green).
You'll find that is me. I pay £160/year FC just outside the M25 and in a deprived area. I do have a garage!

Mine cost me £60 last year...come renewal with no claims it was a tad over £100 with the same company One call. So i hit the internet....One click came out at £50.....there was some tooing and froing ( my fault, i told them the wrong reg....[ its my age])....back to one call, £55 no problem. They are different entities of the same company.
It seems all pf them take the pee.....

Just contacted Bennetts (my current insurer) for a quote to switch to a Africa Twin 1100 DCT. They said I'll get £300 back on my current policy but the cost of the new policy will be £2400!

So I ran it through compare the market and it drops to £804 with carole nash. I also got a quote for my X-ADV and that was £495 with CN! No idea why Bennetts were so far apart from other insurers on the AT, but also shocked to find the AT is so much more to insure compared to the XADV?

I was with Bennetts but this years quote for a multibike was more than Iwas willing to pay so I ended up going to Bikesure, even then I only insured 2 of my bikes,I'll SORN the Street Triple later in the year & put the old SV back on the road for winter.
I've no idea how they come up with their quotes, there seems to be no consistency to them.

So who has multi bike policies, and through which provider? Anything to be aware of? With the possibility of adding a 4th bike to the stable I'm conscious that zero NCB will be a problem for that policy so I'm thinking of cancelling the 3 existing policies and taking out a single multi bike policy.
2014 Yamaha MT09 (max NCB)
1981 Honda CG125 (6 years NCB)
1977 Bultaco Sherpa (2 years NCB)
2008 Ducati 848...

If all the bikes together are worth less than £20k, you can stick them on a multibike policy with Hastings, for me they were cheapest by quite a margin, obviously your risk profile might be completely different to mine, so your milage may vary.
2016 BMW R1200GS
2024 BSA Gold Star
1992 GSXR1100
Under £300 FC iirc
I'll caveat that with that I've never had to make a claim so have no idea how good they are in that respect, they've always been very nice on the phone.

For me (in N.I) it was cheaper to take out individual policies.

That's good to hear, I've checked individual prices on my bikes with them but not had any success with getting through to a human to check their multi bike policy price, probably need to set some time aside tomorrow to try again as insurance runs out on Monday...

Bennett's tried to bend me over on my renewal too. Last year's two bike policy for a 2005 R1150GSA and a 2014 Tiger Sport 1050, 9 years NCB (protected), both garaged, both unlimited mileage and both with business use was £850 FC with £300 excess. On renewal it jumped to
£7.3k. My claims history hasn't been great which really impacted me:
2002 - bike stolen (recovered), no claim made, no impact on NCB
2024 - car hit in rear, claimed off TP, no impact on NCB
2024 - bike stolen, total loss, claim made, no impact on protected NCB.
Managed to get separate quotes for each bike adding up to £1,500 but I've not taken a policy out yet whilst I consider other options.

Bennett’s reminder has just come in for my XT225 Serow. Last year £60, this year £50.

Bennetts took the piss with me too. *Car* rear ended while stationary, twice!, days apart. Both other drivers fault, NCB not affected etc. but Bennetts doubled my premium on the *bike*. Car insurance wasn't with Bennetts but it happened days before renewal so moving would be difficult with an open claim.
I'll be moving in October. Bugger Bennetts

Currently paying the following on 3 separate policies:
MT-09 £152.71
CG125 £75.67
Bultaco Sherpa £71.89
All FC, MT09 inc. commuting.
Total £300.27
Just insured all of them FC...plus a 2008 Ducati 848, all FC for £390 with Carole Nash on a multi bike policy.

Insurance is quite expensive here, and multibike policies are not a thing, as you insure the bike, more than the rider. I've 4 bikes, and the total cast is around €600, but anyone over 25 with s licence for a minimum of two years can ride them.
Other costs are cheaper though, such as vehical, tax fuel, tyres, labour rates and the weather means no salt thrown on the road in the winter and able to ride all year round, so get a full years use out of my insurance, not 6 or 8 months.
