As long as it's reliable, gets from A to B and back again, in comfort and has the space to carry what needs to be carried, it'll do.

For the other 5% I'm happy that I'll be able to have and drive whatever I want to for the rest of my life...ICE cars aren't being banned - but might have to be s/h if I want a particular one.

Things change.

I’ve still got all the ICE cars and last night we went out in our classic Ferrari for ice-cream, so they’re all owned for a purpose and we use them depending on what we want to do.

I like ice cream. I guess I need to go out and buy a classic Ferrari. Can't be seen using the wrong car for ice cream shopping, can I? Would a Dino be OK or must it be a real Ferrari?

I've got the bug for a new car. I fancy a convertible something, but the thought of £400/600 tax and servicing costs does put me off. I should never have bought an EV! :angry-cussingblack:

5.0 V8 Mustang convertible. As long as you buy a 2017 or newer they're only £200 to tax.

Funnily enough I'm trying to negotiate a deal on a Dino at the moment, we have a special attachment to this particular one but I'm not sure we can stretch to it without giving up some other cars, which I might do, but I worry I might regret it.

Today another classic Porsche Turbo is coming out of the storage place because my grandson is coming over and it's his favourite car, so I have to have it out on show for him to sit in and make "vroom vroom" noises. He has a peculiar attachment to this car and he likes the Tesla because he can watch his favourite kids programmes in the back on the big screen, but for some reason this particular Porsche has got under his skin.

I'd leave it to you, would you rather drive a Tesla, or this...

In an ideal world, one that most of us can't afford, then you'd drive both? I'm sure there's time you'd rather take the Tesla and times you'd rather take the Porsche, depends on the circumstances.

It doesn't really matter what it is, as long as it's got a proper engine and a proper gearbox, that's what I'd rather drive.

By the way, is that you in the picture? I'd heard you were short but... :P

Yeah, err... like I said. The picture was more nuanced than just a simple lessening of EV sales.
I'm glad we're both on the same page

I'd drive the Porsche 100% of the time if I could, but I don't want to leave it on supermarket carparks, or even be out in it too much because my friend had a similar type of car and someone crashed into him and wrote it off, the offenders insurance keep trying to pay him out on the basis that it's an old car and even though he keeps presenting evidence of them going through auctions in America at around $750k the insurance still won't accept that as an indicator of value.
Some of my cars have book prices that are ridiculous compared to what they're actually selling for on the open market, so what do you do, enjoy it or keep it tucked up in the garage in case someone crashes into you and you get ripped off because that's just what the world is like these days.

I'd be very happy if the values all went down to something much more sensible, then those that want to can enjoy them and we wouldn't have to stress over them being expensive, but like most nice things they're expensive through supply and demand.

But back to the thread, I do like our Teslas, they're good to get from A to B very quietly and not being noticed.
I can't see a world anymore than doesn't have EVs in them, they won't eclipse ICE until the technology is ready but they do have a place.

Only issue i have with owning a Tesla is that lots of scrotes in the likes of old 3-series BMWs, chavtastic Fiestas etc, all feel like they have a point to prove and must beat you off the lights or get in front of you. FFS, Im on my way to Sainsbury - not the Le Mans 24hr!

If I'm in the Performance edition that does 0-62 in about 2.5 seconds then not much is going to beat me off the line.

Although I don't usually do it just in case a bored copper is watching and decides it's dangerous or something.
I do quite like a sporty car pulling up alongside my supercharged Range Rover and expecting to see me off, and then I boot it and leave him for dead :D

The Model 3 I've ordered is the bog standard rwd version. 0-62 in just under 6 secs!!! :D

And that's honestly absolutely fine with me, I really haven't bought it for the traffic lights GP. I can't remember the last time I raced away from standstill?

Tesla 0-60 times are bollocks anyways, they're not done from a standing start.

How can 0-60 be anything other than a stationary start?
