A rock musician who co-wrote a song with the lyrics "I don't like cricket - I love it" has just gone to his first match - nearly 47 years after the hit was released.

Graham Gouldman, a founding member of the band 10cc, had never seen live cricket, despite the 1978 hit "Dreadlock Holiday" being adopted as an anthem by many fans of the sport.

But with the help of BBC Three Counties Radio, Gouldman saw England beat the West Indies, external in Tuesday's one-day international at The Oval.

"After today's experience I can say 'I don't like cricket, I absolutely love it'," said Gouldman, 79.

He added: "I've had a really lovely day really, enjoyed it... great atmosphere, great people.

"I just had a wonderful time."

Asked if he would attempt to write another hit about his first match, he said: "When you have had a nice experience like this I'm sure somewhere, at some point, something will crop up in a song."

Yup. Same here. Annoying as apparently they like my blood AND I’m mostly over my fear of needles

But apparently there’s no clinical test to confirm mad cow or not on a live human . (We all know I am, but that’s not the same type!! )

I got a 3 year ban for a reason that they wouldn't tell me, and as soon as that ban was lifted I've had dozens of emails and messages begging me to book up again, but the nearest appointment is always months away and in the middle of the working day.

I really don't understand why they can't have x no of slots at each session as walk-ins to cover the no shows.

Something I've never bothered with as I was always getting tattooed or pierced in my younger years, but now they're asking I thought I'd take a look, no donation places within 20 miles, Ok so we're a small town but with a population of 5000 it might be worth their while to swing a donation bus in once every other month.

I had the same when I tried to book and it had been 20+ years since my last donation so I was a “new” donor, but once I’d been to my first donation they realised I was O Neg I get priority bookings.
