I think it's fairer to compare vs an instant access account, the best of which currently are 5%.

That would bring in £208 a month with the full £50k, so that's what you're gambling each month. Or £42 for each £10k in there.

You could have about five lottery tickets a week for the interest you would get on each £10k in Premium bonds.


If you really wouldn't move it for 12 months you could get 6.2% as said above so the numbers become £258 and £52 respectively.

Also as said above PB winnings are tax free so worth considering how much tax you pay also.

I've put £300 a month in since Feb and just upped it to £500... and still got fuck all

If you have a contrary opinion then you could have used your post to politely point out where you think I was wrong and what you think would be a better approach. If you actually had anything decent to say then maybe some people reading might have even found it useful.
