The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

Re: utterly random picture thread.
The literal meanings of South American country names
Each South American country’s name carries a little piece of history. Some come from the land itself, others from the people who explored or lived there long before modern borders existed. Together, they form a linguistic snapshot of the continent’s layered past.
Brazil takes its name from the pau-brasil tree, whose red dye looked like glowing embers. Argentina comes from argentum, Latin for silver, inspired by tales of riches brought by early explorers. Venezuela means “little Venice,” named by Europeans who thought its stilt houses along the water resembled their own city back home. Guyana translates to “land of many waters,” while Ecuador simply means “equator.”
A few nations were named after people. Bolivia honours Simón Bolívar, the revolutionary who helped free much of South America from Spanish rule. Colombia comes from Christopher Columbus, and its name reflects the colonial age’s fascination with explorers. Others, like Chile and Peru, reach back further into indigenous origins. Chile may mean “where the land ends,” and Peru possibly stems from a local word for “river.”
Each name tells a small part of a much larger story: exploration, colonisation, trade, and language all converging on one continent. What seems like a simple list of country names is really a record of how cultures met, mixed, and left their mark across South America.

Yozzer told us the previous owners recorded X videos in the villa. Might be part of their equipment?

It's been hung on Yorick's hotel wall.
