Buxton is okay with me, if we're doing hotels I'd like somewhere with secureish parking for my bike, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find somewhere that fits the bill.

They'll probably valet park it for you when you book in at The Crescent.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:20 pm Buxton is okay with me, if we're doing hotels I'd like somewhere with secureish parking for my bike, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find somewhere that fits the bill.

Closed in 2015 as a pub. It's now a whisky distillery I think.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:30 pmIs the Cat and Fiddle open these days?Count Steer wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:38 pmThey'll probably valet park it for you when you book in at The Crescent.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:20 pm Buxton is okay with me, if we're doing hotels I'd like somewhere with secureish parking for my bike, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find somewhere that fits the bill.![]()

It was a bit of a dump in the early 90s, I certainly wouldn't have stayed there.Count Steer wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:35 pmClosed in 2015 as a pub. Dont even go there with pop up tents
Trumps and the pop up tent he couldnt fold down even with the instructions ... for those who dont know the story he was severley hung over and ended up putting the tent, still up, into the boot of an Audi A3 and slamming the hatch shut before driving home where a mate put it back in the bag for him.
I could have folded it up but watching the aerospace engineer having a complete fucking meltdown at being unable to fold it down while showing him the instructions was more fun

Re: 2024 Forum extravaganza ?
Hey all, apologies, let this thread slip.
We've got the place for the weekend of 26/27th July if we want it.
Tricky is racing at Castle Combe on the Saturday and its also Calne bike day as well - 20 minute ride away and there's usually a few thousand bikes visiting. We can camp in a field or in the woods which has its own "furniture" and a long drop and a bar. - will get pics. its an ace setting.
Its also on the Kennet & Avon canal so if people want to come in cars and MtB in the area its well suited (Weeksy & Crust have ridden this area).
I'm happy to do ride outs to place of interest (of which there are many) and we can organise a fire etc.
I need to get an idea of numbers - who's up for it?

Re: 2024 Forum extravaganza ?
I should be okay, I'll come down on the Saturday, go home on Sunday, on my bike and camping, if it's raining I won't be there, but I'm happy to pay for camping in advance.

Where is it exactly? I don't do camping, and there seems to be a dearth of local pubs with rooms.G.P wrote: Tue May 21, 2024 8:29 pm Hey all, apologies, let this thread slip.

Re: 2024 Forum extravaganza ?
I will 99% certain I won't be there!! But I'll have more idea if I can swing it nearer the time!!
(But will probably have to find transport/tent/etc at the last minute too!! LOL)
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!!
Re: 2024 Forum extravaganza ?

I'll find out if there are any B&B's locally. Or you could rent a narrow boat and park it adjacent
