My old boss broke the windscreen of his Renault Avantime, it had all the sensors and coatings and shit as his was the top spec one that only 500 were ever made of.

The windscreen was over 2 grand. And that was in 2006.

Not BMP exactly and not winding me up, just making me a bit sad.

My cat Wilko is approaching seven years old and has (until now) been spectacularly inept at catching birds or mice. He's managed a few butterflies but the only birds he's brought in were already dead and thus not too taxing to catch.

He's either a) figured something out, b) been having coaching lessons on the sly or c) the birds in our area have got fat and slow because he's brought two live birds home in the past week.

Now I know that one of the things cats do is to catch birds, but I'd prefer it if he didn't.

I may try hypnosis.

Yes, I'm not convinced birds associate a bell with cat type danger. There is also the possibility of the collar getting caught on something, with unfortunate consequences (for the cat).

I suspect birds are a bit easier to catch at the moment as they're focused on 'species propagation' ie finding a mate/nesting site so they're rather preoccupied. Food's still in short supply too so they've got a lot of tabs open. Lurking under a hedge as a bird checks it out for nesting possibilities and mugging 'em is probably the current sport.

Yes, he's almost comically inept at stealthy stalking, but is good at ambushing. His favoured method of play is to hide behind a quilt or curtains and pounce on something. And as you say, birds have other priorities at present.

Mrs M is having a "tidy up".

Now I have a narrow shelf in one kitchen cupboard that has my multimeter and a small tool bag in. Said tool bag contains random emergency DIY shit, like a adjustable spanner, molegrips, pliers, electrical tape, small file, side cutters etc, all the random bits you need to quickly deal with DIY issues around the house without having to delve into a shed to find something, as well as all those "it'll only take you 5 minutes" jobs that I hate been given.

Mrs M has opened it up and is wondering very loudly if I need ALL of these doodads in MY toolbag. Its a fixed shape, taking them out won't make it any smaller!

Fortunately the "new patio" kit is in one of the sheds.

Our house is somewhat akin to the Russia/Ukraine border - it's flexible as in who controls certain border areas. My (vigorously defended) heartlands are the cellar and the shed (which shouldn't really count as it's not part of the house). I control most of the attic, but I've long since ceded control of the bedroom and bathroom. The living room is something of a front line as we tend to dump stuff there that doesn't fit anywhere else. The kitchen is a battlefield...

I'm not a victim and I didn't ask to be registered as a victim. I'm just a convenient stat for the police to say 'look how good we are compared to last year', they don't give a toss about what a victim wants if it isn't the same as they want.

Nope, no prosecution, no charges and thankfully no arrest.
A child had a strop and threw a jar of food on the floor, the police labelled this criminal damage and I'm the victim as it was my jar.
